2020 Strade Bianche
The 14th edition of the Strade Bianche was held on 1 August 2020. Starting and finishing in Siena, Italy, it was the sixth event of the 2020 UCI World Tour. The race was originally scheduled for 7 March 2020 but was postponed to 1 August 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After finishing third in the past two editions of the race, Belgian Wout van Aert of won the race in just under five hours after going solo with around 13 kilometers to go. Teams Twenty-four teams, including 18 of the 19 UCI WorldTeams and six UCI Professional Continental teams. All but two teams entered seven riders; and only entered six riders. Of the 166 riders that started the race, only 42 finished, while a further 8 riders finished over the time limit. 2020 UCI World Tour
The 2020 UCI World Tour was a series of races that was scheduled to include thirty-six road cycling events throughout the 2020 cycling season. However, some of races were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour started with the opening stage of the Tour Down Under on 21 January, and concluded with the final stage of the Vuelta a España on 8 November. Events The 2020 calendar was initially announced in June 2019. In October 2019, the calendar was officially presented by the UCI. There were two races fewer in the original schedule than in the 2019 UCI World Tour: *The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey was downgraded to the UCI ProSeries for 2020 due to lack of participation of UCI World Tour teams in 2018 and 2019. *The Tour of California was not held in 2020 after being placed on hiatus. Diego Rosa (cyclist)
Diego Rosa (born 27 March 1989) is an Italian former racing cyclist, who ccompeted as a professional from 2013 to 2022. He rode in nine Grand Tours and was victorious in the 2015 Milano–Torino. Career In August 2014, announced that they had signed Rosa for the 2015 season, with general manager Alexander Vinokourov highlighting his role as a domestique for Fabio Aru. His first professional victory was the 2015 Milano–Torino. In 2016, he won a mountain stage of the Tour of the Basque Country. He celebrated his solo win by stepping off his bike and crossing the finish line by foot, holding his bicycle in the air. Rosa has competed in eight Grand Tours. Greg Van Avermaet (born 17 May 1985) is a Belgian professional cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Brent Bookwalter (born February 16, 1984) is an American former professional cyclist, who last rode for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States, Bookwalter was a member of the Lees–McRae College (Banner Elk, NC) cycling team from 2003–2006. While a member they won 7 national titles as a team and Bookwalter won nine individual national titles in Mountain Bike, Road and Cyclo-Cross disciplines. He graduated from Lees-McRae in 2006 with a BS in Biology. The UCI Continental Circuits are a series of road bicycle racing competitions which were introduced in 2005 by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to expand cycling around the world. Wout van Aert (born 15 September 1994) is a Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . He won the men's elite race at the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships in 2016, 2017 and 2018. He joined in March 2019, on a three-year deal after terminating his contract with in 2018.
