2020 Scottish Rally Championship
The Scottish Rally Championship is a rallying series run throughout Scotland over the course of a year, that comprises both gravel and tarmac surface rallies. The 2020 series began on the forest tracks around Inverness on 7 March, with the season finale due to take place around Dalbeattie on 19 September. Series Cancellation On 24 March 2020, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic Organisers of the KNC Groundworks Scottish Rally Championship took the decision to cancel the 2020 championship. The coronavirus pandemic continued to spread leading to a number of events being cancelled. Moffat
Moffat ( gd, Mofad) is a burgh and parish in Dumfriesshire, now part of the Dumfries and Galloway local authority area in Scotland. It lies on the River Annan, with a population of around 2,500. It was a centre of the wool trade and a spa town. Moffat is around to the southeast of Glasgow, southwest of Edinburgh, northeast of Dumfries and northwest of Carlisle. John "Jock" Armstrong (born 23 January 1970) is a British rally driver from Castle Douglas. He was Scottish Rally Champion in 2015 and 2016. Career His first rally was in 1989 driving a Vauxhall Nova. In 1993 he won the UK Colway Tyres budget championship in a 1300cc Vauxhall Nova, ahead of drivers with more powerful cars. In October 2015, Armstrong and regular co-driver Paula Swinscoe were crowned the 2015 Scottish Rally champions. During the Jim Clark Reivers rally in May, Armstrong and Swinscoe were given a 1-minute time penalty dropping them from first to third place, however following an appeal in late September this was overturned and the pair were granted the win. Banchory
Banchory (, sco, Banchry, gd, Beannchar) is a burgh or town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. It is about west of Aberdeen, near where the Feugh River meets the River Dee. Prehistory and archaeology In 2009, a farmer discovered a short cist burial to the east of the town. Archaeologists were called into excavate it and they found that it was a burial from the Beaker culture. Radiocarbon dating put the burial at sometime between 2330 and 2040 BC. Stable isotope analysis of the human remains indicated that he or she grew up on basalt geology, like that of the region, or on chalk, meaning they were either local or could have come from another place, like Yorkshire. Residue analysis of the Beaker pot found in the burial established that it had held either butter or milk. Dunoon (; gd, Dùn Omhain) is the main town on the Cowal peninsula in the south of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. The Royal Scottish Automobile Club (RSAC) Scottish Rally is the highlight of the Scottish Rally Championship and the longest-standing rally event in Scotland, having been first contested in 1932.
