2020 Real Salt Lake Season
The 2020 Real Salt Lake season was the team's 16th year of existence, and their 16th consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top division of the American soccer pyramid. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the season was suspended on March 12 and resumed four months later with the MLS is Back Tournament, played behind closed doors in the Orlando metropolitan area. Real Salt Lake resumed home matches in September with a limited capacity of 5,000 people and requirements for spectators to wear masks and practice social distancing. Real Salt Lake
Real Salt Lake, often shortened to RSL, is an American professional soccer franchise based in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. The club competes as a member club of Major League Soccer (MLS) in the Western Conference. RSL began play in 2005 as an expansion team of the league. The club was founded in 2004 when the club's first owner and founder was awarded an expansion berth in Major League Soccer. The club plays its home games at America First Field, a soccer-specific stadium located in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy, Utah, which they shared with their sister team, Utah Royals FC. Before moving to America First, RSL previously played home games at Rice-Eccles Stadium, located on the campus of the University of Utah, from 2005 to 2007. Aaron Joseph Herrera (born June 6, 1997) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for CF Montréal in Major League Soccer. College and amateur Herrera played three years of college soccer at the University of New Mexico between 2015 and 2017, scoring 7 goals and tallying 8 assists in 54 appearances. Marcelo Andrés Silva Fernández (born 21 March 1989) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer as a central defender. Herriman, Utah
Herriman ( ) is a city in southwestern Salt Lake County, Utah. The population was 55,144 as of the 2020 census. Although Herriman was a town in 2000, it has since been classified as a fourth-class city by state law. The city has experienced rapid growth since incorporation in 1999, as its population was just 1,523 at the 2000 census. It grew from being the 111th-largest incorporated place in Utah in 2000 to the 14th-largest in 2020. Giuseppe Rossi (; born 1 February 1987) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward. Kyle Robert Beckerman (born April 23, 1982) is an American former professional soccer player who played as a midfielder.
