The 2020 Pan American Judo Championships was a judo event which took place in Guadalajara, Mexico, from 19 to 22 November 2020. The championships were originally scheduled to be held in Montreal, Canada, from 17 to 19 April 2020, but were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Pan American Judo Championships are continental judo Championships organized by the Pan American Judo Confederation since 2009. Previous championships were organized by the Panamerican Judo Union. From 2022 they are renamed to Pan American-Oceania Judo Championships. Alonso Wong (born 10 June 1993) is a Peruvian judoka. He won the silver medal in the men's 73 kg event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. Career He won the silver medal in the men's 66 kg event at the 2014 Pan American Judo Championships held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. In the following years, he competed in the 73 kg weight class. Andy Granda (born 4 February 1992) is a Cuban judoka. He won the gold medal in the men's +100 kg event at the 2019 Pan American Games held in Lima, Peru. In 2014, Granda won the gold medal in the men's team event at the Central American and Caribbean Games held in Veracruz, Mexico. Kyle Reyes (born October 10, 1993) is a Canadian judoka who competes in the men's 100 kg category. Reyes was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Reyes won the gold medal the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ljubljana, became the first Canadian judoka to win a World Junior Championships gold medal. In June 2016, he was named to Canada's Olympic team. While born in Brampton, he was raised in Toronto. Shady El Nahas
Shady El Nahas (born March 27, 1998) is a Canadian judoka. Career When El Nahas was young, he immigrated to Canada from Egypt, and took up the sport of judo for self-defence against bullying at school. In November 2018, El Nahas won silver at the Osaka Grand Slam, and the following year he followed that up with a bronze at the 2019 Ekaterinburg Grand Slam. El Nahas also won gold at the 2019 Pan American Judo Championships in Lima, Peru and in 2020. In June 2021, El Nahas was named to Canada's 2020 Olympic team. Personal life El Nahas was born in Alexandria, Egypt and moved to Canada with his family at the age of 12. The family initially lived in Toronto though he moved to Montreal to join the national Canadian judo team where he trains with them today.
