2020 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The 2020 Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, the Northern Ontario women's curling championship, was held from January 29 – February 2 at the Don Shepherdson Memorial Arena in New Liskeard, Temiskaming Shores. The winning Krista McCarville rink represented Northern Ontario at the 2020 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and finished in fourth place. The event was held in conjunction with the 2020 Northern Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championship, the provincial men's championship. Krista McCarville won her eighth Northern Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts by defeating the young Krysta Burns rink in a tight 6–5 final. She and her teammates represented Northern Ontario at the Hearts for the second year in a row. The Burns rink also featured experienced curler Amanda Gates who used to play with the Sudbury based Tracy Fleury rink. Moose Jaw
Moose Jaw is the fourth largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada. Lying on the Moose Jaw River in the south-central part of the province, it is situated on the Trans-Canada Highway, west of Regina. Curling In Northern Ontario
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The purpose is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Sara Guy (born November 14, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She currently second on Team Krysta Burns. Career Guy made four appearances at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships during her junior career in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019. In 2014, her Northern Ontario team skipped by Krysta Burns finished with a 4–5 round robin record and in 2015, her team finished 3–6. Megan Smith (born October 16, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She currently plays third on Team Chelsea Brandwood. In 2015, she won the gold medal at the 2015 Canada Winter Games, skipping Team Ontario in women's curling. Career Smith made three appearances at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships during her junior career, playing for three different skips in 2016, 2017 and 2019. Tracy Fleury
Tracy Fleury (born June 13, 1986, as Tracy Horgan) is a Canadian curler from Sudbury, Ontario. She joined the Rachel Homan rink as skip for the 2022–23 season. In 2021, she led her team to a silver medal at the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. She has competed at the Canadian national championship five times and was the Northern Ontario women's junior champion skip from 2005 to 2007. Fleury represented Northern Ontario at three Canadian Junior Curling Championships during her junior career (2005, 2006 and 2007). She aged out of juniors in 2008 and began skipping her own rink on the Ontario and World Curling Tour's.
