The 2020 New Zealand Grand Prix event for open wheel racing cars was held at Manfeild: Circuit Chris Amon near Feilding on 16 February 2020. It was the sixty-fifth New Zealand Grand Prix and fielded Toyota Racing Series cars. The event also served as the third race of the fifth round of the 2020 Toyota Racing Series, the final race of the series. 2020 Toyota Racing Series
The 2020 Castrol Toyota Racing Series was the sixteenth running of the Toyota Racing Series, the premier open-wheel motorsport category held in New Zealand. The series consisted of fifteen races at five meetings. It began on 17 January at Highlands Motorsport Park, in Cromwell, and concluded on 16 February with the 65th running of the New Zealand Grand Prix, at Circuit Chris Amon in Feilding. Changes Technical In May 2019, the new Tatuus F3 T318, nicknamed "FT-60", chassis was revealed to be the chassis used from the 2020 season onwards. The change in chassis will also be accompanied by a new engine. The modified 1.8L Toyota four cylinder 2ZZ-GE production engines that were used since the series' inception will be replaced with a 2.0L turbocharged unit, increasing power output from 200bhp (150kW) to 270bhp (200kW). Jackson Walls (born 1 January 2003) is an Australian racing driver currently racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia. Career Australian F4 Championship In 2018 Walls jumped into a single seater car for the first time competitively with the Patrizicorse team in the Australian F4 Championship. A string of successful midfield results as well as 3 podium finishes put him 6th with 148. Walls returned for the next campaign and his results were similar to the previous year, he took his maiden career victory at Tailem Bend, Lochie Hughes who started on pole initially took the victory after taking the lead back from Walls. Ken Smith (racing Driver)
Kenneth James Smith (born 11 August 1941) is a New Zealand motor racing driver, who won the New Zealand Grand Prix in 1976, 1990, and 2004. Smith first competed in motor racing in 1958, winning the New Zealand Hill Climb championship when he was 16. He progressed to single seater racing in 1962, first driving a Lola March T, Formula Junior car. Later he raced in Formula Ford, Formula 5000, Formula Pacific, Formula Mondial, and Toyota Racing Series among others Smith won the Gold Star Drivers Award in the 1975–1976, 1983–1984, 1984–1985, 1986–1987 and 1989–1990 seasons. In 2011 Smith won the Formula 5000 Revival championship for the third time. As well as his victories in New Zealand, Smith also won the Penang Grand Prix three times, the Selangor Grand Prix twice, and the Malaysian Grand Prix once. Rui Pinto de Andrade (born 23 September 1999) is an Angolan-Portuguese racing driver who is currently racing in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with Tower Motorsport, FIA World Endurance Championship for Team WRT and European Le Mans Series for Inter Europol Competition. Axel Gnos (born 30 April 2003) is a Swiss-French racing driver of Vietnamese descent, who drives for G4 Racing in the Formula Regional European Championship. Career Lower formulae Gnos made his car racing debut in the 2018 Italian F4 Championship with AS Motorsport, where he raced in two rounds. In 2019 he drove in both the Italian and Spanish F4 championships, for Jenzer Motorsport and G4 Racing respectively. Tijmen van der Helm (born 26 January 2004) is a Dutch racing driver currently competing in the 2022 FIA World Endurance Championship with ARC Bratislava, and the 2022 European Le Mans Series with TDS Racing. Lirim Zendeli (born 18 October 1999 in Bochum) is a German racing driver of Macedonian-Albanian descent who is set to compete in the 2023 USF Pro 2000 Championship with TJ Speed Motorsports. He last competed as a substitute driver for Campos Racing in Formula 2. He competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Charouz Racing System in 2019 as the reigning German Formula 4 champion. Oliver Rasmussen (born 6 November 2000) is a Danish racing driver currently competing in the World Endurance Championship for Jota. Early career Italian F4 2018 Rasmussen started his single-seater career off with Jenzer Motorsport at the opening round of the 2018 Italian F4 Championship. Rasmussen completed the first ten races with 4 retirements and a best finish of 11th, a string of 3 retirements in a row starting at Monza's 2nd race left Rasmussen the only one of the 6 Jenzer drivers without a point.
