2020 NWSL Expansion Draft
The 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft was a special draft held on November 12, 2020, by the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) for Racing Louisville FC, an expansion team, to select players from existing teams in the league. Louisville would be able to select up to 18 players from a list of unprotected players provided by the existing nine NWSL teams. On October 26, 2020, the NWSL announced that Chicago Red Stars would receive full roster protection after executing a trade with Racing Louisville FC. Format Each of the NWSL's nine current teams could protect 11 players, with a limit of two United States federation players. National Women's Soccer League
The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) is a professional women's soccer league at the top of the United States league system. It is owned by the teams and, until 2020, was under a management contract with the United States Soccer Federation. The NWSL was established in 2012 as the successor to Women's Professional Soccer (WPS; 2007–2012), which was itself the successor to Women's United Soccer Association (2001–2003). Kaleigh Ann Riehl (born October 21, 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a defender for National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club San Diego Wave FC. Riehl has represented the United States at the U-18, U-20 and U-23 levels. She was called up to the senior team training camp in January 2019. The Portland Thorns FC is an American professional women's soccer team based in Portland, Oregon. Established in 2012, the team began play in 2013 in the then-eight-team National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), which receives support from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF).
