2020 Morges Stabbing
On the evening of 12 September 2020, a randomly-chosen man was fatally stabbed in a kebab restaurant in Morges, Vaud canton, Switzerland. The accused, a Turkish-Swiss dual national, was known to the Swiss intelligence service as an Islamist and under surveillance for possible links to terrorism. The victim was a 29-year-old Portuguese man. Morges
Morges (; la, Morgiis, plural, probably ablative, else dative; frp, Môrges) is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud and the seat of the district of Morges. It is located on Lake Geneva. History Morges is first mentioned in 1288 as ''Morgia''. It was known by its German name ''Morsee'' though that name is no longer used. Prehistory There were several prehistoric settlements along what is now the Morges lakefront. The largest and best known, ''Grande-Cité'', was occupied in the late Bronze Age. One of the wooden objects at Grande-Cité has been dendrochronologically dated to 1031 BC. Many of the stilts and building structures have been preserved in situ. 2020 Lugano Stabbing
In the afternoon of 24 November 2020, a 28-year-old Swiss people, Swiss woman attacked two female customers with a knife in the Manor (department store), Manor store in Lugano, Ticino cantons of Switzerland, Canton, Switzerland. The perpetrator was stopped by intervening customers. One of the women who were attacked was injured seriously. The Federal Office of Police suspected the attack had an Islamist motive. The attacker was already known to Swiss authorities in connection with jihadism and sympathizing with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, Islamic State. According to police she had previously tried to travel to Syria to fight for the group, but was arrested by Turkish security forces at the Syrian-Turkish border and sent back to Switzerland. In 2022, the woman was formally indicted on charges of attempted murder. The prosecutors accused her of carrying out an Islamic extremist attack on behalf of ISIL.
