2020 Molde FK Season
The 2020 season was Molde's 13th consecutive year in Eliteserien, and their 44th season in the top flight of Norwegian football. They finished second in the Eliteserien, whilst the Norwegian Cup and Mesterfinalen where cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Norway. In Europe, Molde where knocked out of the 2020–21 UEFA Champions League by Ferencváros dropping into the Europa League where they progressed to the Round of 32 which will take place in the 2021 season. Season events On 3 January, Tobias Hestad extended his contract with Molde until the end of 2022. On 31 January, Molde announced that Etzaz Hussain had signed a new contract with the club, until the end of the 2022 season. Molde Fotballklubb () is a professional football club based in Molde, Norway, that competes in Eliteserien, the top flight of Norwegian football. Founded on 19 June 1911, the club was originally known as International and changed its name to Molde in 1915. Molde are five-time league champions (2011, 2012, 2014, 2019 & 2022) and five-time Norwegian Cup winners (1994, 2005, 2013, 2014 and 2021), and have finished second in the league a further nine times. Aalesunds Fotballklubb, commonly known as Aalesund or AaFK, is a Norwegian football club from the town of Ålesund, that competes in the Eliteserien, the first tier of the Norwegian football league system. The club was founded on 25 June 1914. As of 2004, the football club had 835 members and several teams on both professional and amateur levels. Marcus Holmgren Pedersen
Marcus Holmgren Pedersen (born 16 July 2000) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Dutch club Feyenoord. He also plays for the Norway national team. Club career Early life Hailing from Hammerfest, Pedersen started playing youth football in HIF/Stein. In 2016 he moved to Tromsø to attend the Norwegian School of Elite Sport there, and transferred to the youth section of Tromsø IL. Tromsø Pedersen got his debut for Tromsø when he came in as an 86th-minute substitute in a Norwegian Cup first round tie against Skjervøy on 18 April 2018. Etzaz Hussain
Etzaz Muzafar Hussain (born 27 January 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Cypriot club Apollon Limassol. Born in Oslo, he played for nearby Langhus as a youth player, before moving to Manchester United in 2009. After two years in England, he returned to Norway with Vålerenga, but shortly after moved to Fredrikstad, where he made his professional debut. Hussain transferred to Molde in mid-2012 and won the Tippeligaen in his first season at the club. After winning four league titles and three Norwegian Cups with Molde across two spells, he moved to Apollon Limassol as a free agent in January 2023. COVID-19 Pandemic In Norway
The COVID-19 pandemic in Norway has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. On 26 February 2020, the virus was confirmed to have spread to Norway. The number of cases increased rapidly during the month of March, prompting a number of legal measures aiming to achieve physical distancing to be introduced on 12 March. The first death attributed to COVID-19 was documented on the same day. Most confirmed cases that were traced to outside Norway were Norwegian tourists returning from Austria and Italy. 2020 Mesterfinalen
Mesterfinalen ( en, Champions Final), also known as UNICEF Mesterfinalen due to its cooperation with UNICEF, is a Norwegian association football competition contested between the champions of the previous Eliteserien season and the holders of the Norwegian Football Cup. If the same team is both reigning League and Cup champions, the silver medalist from the league provides the opposition. The competition was founded in 2009, then known as Superfinalen ( en, Super Final). Superfinalen was not arranged between 2011 and 2016 before it was rebranded and again arranged in 2017. Eliteserien () is a Norwegian professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Norwegian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Norwegian First Division.
