2020 La Course By Le Tour De France
The 2020 La Course by Le Tour de France was the seventh edition of La Course by Le Tour de France, a women's cycling race held in France. It took place on 29 August 2020 and was the fourth event on the 2020 UCI Women's World Tour. The event was organised by ASO, which also organises the Tour de France. Originally, the event was supposed held on 19 July, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in France. The race was won by British rider Lizzie Deignan of Trek–Segafredo in a sprint finish. Route The race started and finished in Nice, taking in two laps of a hilly circuit covering in total. It was held before stage 1 of the men's 2020 Tour de France, which took in three laps of the same circuit. The original route for the race would have taken place in Paris featuring circuits along the Champs-Élysées, a choice that was criticised by the professional peloton. 2020 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2020 UCI Women's World Tour was a competition that initially included twenty-one road cycling events throughout the 2020 women's cycling season. It was the fifth edition of the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition began with the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race Women on 1 February. The schedule was extensively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in two-thirds of the races on the calendar being either postponed or cancelled outright. As a result, the season was extended until 8 November, when the final stage of the Ceratizit Challenge by la Vuelta took place. 2020 In Women's Road Cycling
2020 in women's road cycling is about the 2020 women's bicycle races ruled by the UCI and the 2020 UCI Women's Teams. Olympic Games The 2020 Olympics, set to be held in Tokyo, Japan, were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic with the road cycling events taking place from 23 July to 8 August 2021. World Championships The World Road Championships were originally set to be held in Aigle and Martigny, Switzerland, from 20 to 27 September 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Switzerland the races in Switzerland were cancelled. Liane Lippert (born 13 January 1998) is a German cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Career Born in Friedrichshafen, Lippert started her career in local club ''RSV Seerose Friedrichshafen'' in 2008. Elisa Balsamo (born 27 February 1998) is an Italian road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's World Team , and represents Italy at international competitions. After competing at the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in the women's junior road race she became junior world champion at the 2016 UCI Road World Championships in the junior's road race. She won the gold medal at the 2016 UEC European Track Championships in the team pursuit. Early life Balsamo was born in Cuneo in 1998. Her father was an amateur cyclist. Before taking up cycling, she had competed in a number of skiing disciplines, as well as biathlon and swimming. Emilia Fahlin (born 24 October 1988) is a Swedish road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Fahlin has won the Swedish National Road Race Championships three times (2008, 2013, 2018) and the Swedish National Time Trial Championships three times in a row from 2009 to 2011. Elisa Longo Borghini (born 10 December 1991) is an Italian professional road cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . During her career, Longo Borghini has won two bronze medals in the road race at the Summer Olympic Games, taking third-place finishes in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. Annemiek van Vleuten (born 8 October 1982) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Katarzyna "Kasia" Niewiadoma (born 29 September 1994) is a Polish racing cyclist, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Among her wins are the Amstel Gold Race, the Trofeo Alfredo Binda and the stage race The Women's Tour. She is a former national champion in both the road race and time trial events.
