2020 LIU Sharks Football Team
The 2020 LIU Sharks football team represented both the LIU Post and LIU Brooklyn campuses of Long Island University in the 2020–21 NCAA Division I FCS football season. They were led by 23rd year head coach Bryan Collins and played their home games at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. They played as a second–year member of the Northeast Conference. This was the final season as head coach for Collins as he stepped down in June. Schedule LIU had games scheduled against Delaware (September 19) and Lehigh (September 26), but canceled these games before the season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bryan Collins
Bryan Collins (July 30, 1964 – July 8, 2023) was an American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Long Island University (LIU) from 1998 to 2021, staying with the team through its merger from the Division II LIU Post Pioneers to the Division I LIU Sharks. Collins served as the defensive line coach for the Stony Brook Seawolves for two seasons. He was promoted to defensive coordinator prior to the 2023 season, but died suddenly in July 2023 at the age of 58. Career Assistant coaching Collins graduated from St. John's University in Queens in 1987, where he played linebacker on the football team. He began his coaching career as an assistant football coach at St. Francis Preparatory School in Fresh Meadows, Queens. He was an assistant coach at C.W. Brookville, New York
Brookville is a village located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 3,465 at the time of the 2010 census. History The geographic Village of Brookville was formed in two stages. When the village was incorporated in 1931, it consisted of a long, narrow tract of land that was centered along Cedar Swamp Road ( Route 107). In the 1950s, the northern portion of the unincorporated area then known as Wheatley Hills was annexed and incorporated into the village, approximately doubling the village's area to its present . When the town of Oyster Bay purchased what is now Brookville from the Matinecocks in the mid-17th century, the area was known as Suco's Wigwam. Most pioneers were English, many of them Quakers. Arthur J. Rooney Athletic Field, commonly known as simply Rooney Field, is a 2,200-seat (4,500 capacity) multi-purpose facility in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
