2020 Idaho House Of Representatives Election
The 2020 Idaho House of Representatives elections took place as part of the biennial United States elections on November 3, 2020. Idaho voters elected state representatives in all 70 seats of the House, electing 2 state representatives in each of the 35 Idaho state legislative districts. State representatives serve two-year terms in the Idaho House of Representatives. Following the previous election, Republicans held a 56-to-14 seat majority over Democrats. Republicans retained control of the Idaho House of Representatives following the 2020 general election and gained two seats with the balance of power shifting to 58 (R) to 12 (D). Idaho House Of Representatives
The Idaho House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Idaho State Legislature. It consists of 70 representatives elected to two-year terms. The state is divided into 35 districts, each of which elects two representatives to separate seats. It meets at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise, Idaho, in the State Capitol Building. Composition of the House The Idaho House of Representatives has been continuously controlled by the Republican Party since the late 1950s, usually by a wide margin. Democrats picked up six seats in the 2006 elections. In the 2010 elections Republicans won back many of those seats, gaining five. In the 2012 elections, the first election after redistricting in 2011, Democrats gained two seats in Ada County, but Republicans offset those gains by winning a seat in Bannock County and a seat in the district representing the Democratic stronghold Blaine County. Caroline Nilsson Troy (born 1962) is an American politician who served as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives from the 5th district. Elected in November 2014, she assumed office on December 1, 2014. Early life and education Born Caroline Nilsson, she was raised in Lewiston, where she attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School.
