2020 IFSC Climbing European Championships
The 2020 IFSC Climbing European Championships, the 13th edition, were held in Moscow, Russia from 20 to 28 November 2020. The championships consisted of lead, speed, bouldering, and combined events. The winners of the last event will automatically qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, where climbing will make its debut. Medals Schedule A total of 16 Medal events were held across four disciplines. Qualification for the 2020 Summer Olympics The best climber of the combined event automatically qualifies for the 2020 Summer Olympics, where sport climbing will make its debut. Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace
The Irina Viner-Usmanova Gymnastics Palace is a stadium located in the Luzhniki Olympic Complex in Moscow, Russia. Projected by Moscow's head architect Sergey Kuznetsov and financed by billionaire Alisher Usmanov and named after his wife and head gymnastics coach Irina Viner-Usmanova, it was constructed from 2017 to 2019 and was officially opened on 18 June 2019. Despite its name, the venue has been used not only for rhythmic gymnastics events, but also for musical concerts and festivals. Other sports events, including dancesport and sport climbing, took also place in the Gymnastics Palace. Construction The main designer of the stadium is Moscow's head architect Sergey Kuznetsov, and the construction was fulfilled by the commercial and industrial company Pride ООО. Hannah Meul (born April 3, 2001, in Frechen) is a German rock climber who specialises in competition bouldering and bouldering. She won the silver medal in bouldering at the 2022 IFSC Climbing European Championships and has placed second three times on the IFSC Climbing World Cup circuit. Career Meul began climbing at age seven and entered her first competition at age 10. In the 2015 season, she made her international debut, taking part in the European Youth Cup, European Youth Championships and IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships. At her first IFSC Climbing World Cup at Meiringen in 2017, she advanced to the semifinal and placed 12th. She was also the German lead champion that year.
