2020 Campanian Regional Election
The 2020 Campanian regional election took place in Campania, Italy, on 20 and 21 September 2020. It was originally scheduled to take place on 31 May 2020, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic in Italy. Electoral system The Regional Council of Campania () is composed of 50 members, elected in a party-list proportional representation system. The seats are divided among five constituencies corresponding to the region's provinces: Avellino with 4 seats, Benevento with 2 seats, Caserta with 8 seats, Naples with 27 seats, and Salerno with 9 seats. Regional councillors are selected from party lists at the constituency level, with an electoral threshold at 3%. An additional seat is reserved to the President-elect, who is the candidate winning a plurality of votes. A majority bonus of 60% is granted to the winning coalition. The Regional Council of Campania (''Consiglio Regionale della Campania'') is the parliament, legislative assembly of Campania. It was first elected in 1970, when the Regions of Italy, ordinary regions were instituted, on the basis of the Constitution of Italy of 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Campania was originally composed of 60 regional councillors. Following the decree-law n. 138 of 13 August 2011, the number of regional councillors was reduced to 50, with an additional seat reserved for the President of the Region. Electoral Threshold
The electoral threshold, or election threshold, is the minimum share of the primary vote that a candidate or political party requires to achieve before they become entitled to representation or additional seats in a legislature. This limit can operate in various ways, e.g. in party-list proportional representation systems where an electoral threshold requires that a party must receive a specified minimum percentage of votes (e.g. 5%), either nationally or in a particular electoral district, to obtain seats in the legislature. Solidary Democracy ( it, Democrazia Solidale, DemoS) is a Christian-leftist political party in Italy. The party's early leader, Lorenzo Dellai has described it as a " Christian-social" party. Maria Rosaria "Mara" Carfagna (born 18 December 1975) is an Italian politician and former showgirl and model. After obtaining a degree in law, Carfagna worked for several years on Italian television shows and as a model. Lega ( en, League), whose official name is Lega per Salvini Premier ( en, League for Salvini Premier; abbr. LSP or LpSP), is a right-wing populist political party in Italy, led by Matteo Salvini. The LSP is the informal successor of Lega Nord ( en, Northern League, LN) and, while sharing the latter's heartland in northern Italy, it is active all around the country.
