2020 Apulian Regional Election
The 2020 Apulian regional election took place in Apulia, Italy, on 20 and 21 September. It was originally scheduled to take place on May 31, 2020, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic in Italy. Electoral system The electoral law is established by the Regional Law n. 7/2015. The regional council is made up of 50 councilors, plus the president; The first 23 seats are divided at the district level and the remaining 27 at the level of the single regional constituency. The law provides for a single round, with list voting, the possibility of expressing two preferences of different gender within the chosen list, and voting for the candidate for president, on a single ballot. It is possible to vote for a slate and a candidate for the chair that are not connected to each other ("split vote"). Brothers of Italy ( it, Fratelli d'Italia, FdI) is a national-conservative and right-wing populist political party in Italy. Italia in Comune (IiC, English: ''Italy in Common'') is a green and progressive political party in Italy. It was founded in April 2018 by mayor of Parma Federico Pizzarotti, other former members of the Five Star Movement and local non-party independent politicians generally affiliated with the centre-left coalition. History In October 2016, mayor of Parma Federico Pizzarotti left the Five Star Movement (M5S) due to disagreements with the movement's founder, Beppe Grillo and his suspension from the party in the previous May. èViva (in English: ''It is alive'') is an Italian left-wing political party. History èViva was founded by Francesco Laforgia (member of Article One) and Luca Pastorino (member of Possible) on 13 April 2019. The name of the movement has been chosen via an online-poll. For the 2019 European Parliament election èViva joins the electoral alliance '' The Left'', with Italian Left, Communist Refoundation and the Party of the South. The Left, that joined the GUE/NGL group, got only the 1.8%, without exceeding the 4%-barrier-threshold, so it didn't get any seat. Green Europe ( it, Europa Verde, EV), officially Green Europe – Greens (''Europa Verde – Verdi''), is a green political party in Italy. Its leaders are Angelo Bonelli, long-time leader of the former Federation of the Greens, and Eleonora Evi, a former member of the Five Star Movement. Italian Left ( it, Sinistra Italiana, SI) is a left-wing political party in Italy. SI was launched in November 2015 as a parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies (full name: Italian Left – Left Ecology Freedom), including Left Ecology Freedom (SEL), dissidents from the Democratic Party like Future to the Left, and splinters from the Five Star Movement. At its launch, SI included 32 deputies, who were soon followed by 8 senators (who formed a sub-group within the Mixed Group of the Senate in February 2016), and 2 MEPs. The Italian Republican Party ( it, Partito Repubblicano Italiano, PRI) is a liberal and social-liberal political party in Italy. Founded in 1895, the PRI is the oldest political party still active in Italy. The PRI has old roots and a long history that began with a left-wing position, claiming descent from the political thought of Giuseppe Mazzini and Giuseppe Garibaldi. The early PRI was also known for its anti-clerical, anti-monarchist republican and later anti-fascist stances. Popular Apulia (''Puglia Popolare'') is a political party active in Apulia. History The party was founded in July 2017 by Massimo Cassano, former undersecretary for Labor and Social Policies in the Renzi and Gentiloni Cabinets (in NCD/ AP share). The new party was also joined by the Apulian regional councilors Giovanni Stea and Luigi Morgante (members of the Popular Area group and was initially located in the centre-right coalition.
