2019–20 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2019–20 Northeast Conference men's basketball season began with practices in October 2019, followed by the start of the 2019–20 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. Conference play started in January and ended in February 2020. The NEC tournament was held in March with the higher-seeded team hosting each game. The quarterfinals were played on March 4, the semifinals on March 7, and the championship game on March 10. Changes from last season Merrimack College joined the Northeast Conference from Division II Northeast-10 Conference. They are not eligible this year for the NEC tournament. On October 3, 2018 Long Island University announced that it would combine its two existing athletic programs—NEC member LIU Brooklyn and the Division II program at LIU Post—into a single Division I program under the LIU name. Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball
The Buffalo Bulls men's basketball team represents the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York, United States. The team currently competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division. Buffalo began play in 1915 and joined the MAC in 1998. They won their first MAC East Division title in 2009, and won a third MAC East Division title in 2015 along with their first outright MAC Regular-Season championship and first MAC Tournament title to earn the program's first bid to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. Redshirt (college Sports)
Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). Using this mechanism, a student athlete has at most five academic years to use the four years of eligibility, thus becoming what is termed a fifth-year senior. Bashir Mason
Bashir Mason (born February 11, 1984) is an American college basketball coach and current head men's basketball coach at Saint Peter's University. He was previously an assistant coach at Marist College in 2008, and an assistant coach at Wagner College in 2010. Mason played high school basketball St. Benedict's Preparatory School, then joined then head coach Bruiser Flint to play college basketball at Drexel University. He was a four-year starter for the Dragons, scoring over 1,000 points and handing out 471 assists as a point guard. He was a CAA all-defensive player every season, as well as the CAA's defensive player of the year as a freshman. Mason was hired by Wagner, in March 2012, as their 18th men's head basketball coach. Glenn Braica
Glenn Braica (born September 16, 1964) is the men's basketball head coach at St. Francis College since 2010. Braica was born in Brooklyn, New York and is an alumnus of Bishop Ford High School and Queens College. Braica began his head coaching career at St. Francis College in 2010 and had 22 years of coaching experience at the time split between New York City Tech, St. Francis and St. John's as an assistant coach. Andrew Toole
Andrew Toole (born September 11, 1980) is an American basketball head coach from Staten Island, New York. He has served as the head coach at Robert Morris University since May 11, 2010 and is currently the 6th youngest head coach in Division I basketball. Toole had served as an assistant coach at Lafayette College and Robert Morris prior to accepting his first head coaching position. As a player, Toole played at Elon University before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. Dan Engelstad is an American college basketball coach, and current head coach of the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers men's basketball team. Joe Gallo (born February 8, 1980) is an American college basketball head coach and former player for the Merrimack Warriors men's basketball team. The UMass Minutemen basketball team represents the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts, in NCAA Division I men's college basketball.
