2019–20 Michigan Wolverines Women's Basketball Team
The 2019–20 Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team represented the University of Michigan during the 2019–20 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolverines, led by head coach Kim Barnes Arico in her eighth year, played their home games at the Crisler Center. This season marked the program's 38th season as a member of the Big Ten Conference. Previous season The Wolverines finished the 2018–19 season with a 22–12 record, including 11–7 in Big Ten play to finish in fourth place. They advanced to the semifinals of the Big Ten women's tournament for the first time since 2001, where they lost to Maryland. Kim Barnes Arico
Kimberly Ann Barnes Arico (born August 9, 1970) is an American women's basketball coach, and the current head coach of the Michigan Wolverines women's basketball team. Previously, she was head coach of the St. John's University women's basketball team. She was inducted to the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame in 2020. Coaching career On May 7, 2002, Barnes was named the head coach at St. John's University. She was named the seventh head coach in the then 28-year history of the women's basketball program. She currently holds the record for most wins at the program and led the Red Storm to their first ever Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2012 NCAA tournament.
