The 2019–20 season was Hertha BSC's 121st season in existence, and the club's 7th consecutive and 37th overall season in the top flight of German football. In addition to the domestic league, Hertha BSC participated in this season's edition of the DFB-Pokal. The season covered a period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020. Hertha, Berliner Sport-Club e. V., commonly known as Hertha BSC (), and sometimes referred to as Hertha Berlin, Hertha BSC Berlin, or simply Hertha, is a German professional football club based in the locality of Westend of the borough of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf of Berlin. Hertha BSC plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. Hertha BSC was founded in 1892, and was a founding member of the German Football Association in Leipzig in 1900. Peter Pekarík
Peter Pekarík (; born 30 October 1986) is a Slovak professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Bundesliga club Hertha BSC and the Slovakia national team. Club career Žilina Pekarík, born in Žilina, began playing football at the youth section of his local club. His Corgoň Liga debut came for ZŤS Dubnica. In his first season, he played 27 matches and came back to MŠK Žilina in the summer of 2005. He won the Corgoň Liga in the 2006–07 season, playing 35 matches. Pascal Köpke (born 3 September 1995) is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for 1. FC Nürnberg. He is the son of former German international goalkeeper Andreas Köpke. Club career Köpke spent ten years in 1. FC Nürnberg's youth team, before joining SpVgg Unterhaching in July 2013. Lukas Klünter (born 26 May 1996) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder or defender for club Waldhof Mannheim. Club career Klünter broke into Köln's senior team during the 2016–17 season. In May 2017, he scored his first professional goal for Köln in a 2–2 draw with Bayer Leverkusen. Dennis Smarsch (born 14 January 1999) is a German professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Hertha BSC. Career Smarsch joined Hertha on 27 September 2017. He made his professional debut on 24 November 2019, when he came on as a substitute after the dismissal of Rune Jarstein in the 28th minute of Hertha's 4–0 defeat at FC Augsburg; they were 2–0 down at the time he came on. Mathew Allan Leckie (born 4 February 1991) is an Australian footballer who plays for Melbourne City FC in the A-League and the Australian national team (for whom he has previously been the captain). Salomon Armand Magloire Kalou (born 5 August 1985) is an Ivorian professional footballer who plays as a forward and winger for Djiboutian club Arta/Solar7.
