The 2019–20 FC Bayern Munich season was the 121st season in the football club's history and 55th consecutive and overall season in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga, having been promoted from the Regionalliga in 1965. Bayern Munich also participated in this season's edition of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal, and the premier continental cup competition, the UEFA Champions League. As a result of winning the prior season's Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, they also participated in this season's German super cup, the DFL-Supercup. 1964–65 Regionalliga
The 1964–65 Regionalliga was the second Regionalliga season. The league operated in five regional divisions, Berlin, North, South, Southwest and West. The five league champions and the runners-up from the west, south, southwest and north then entered a promotion play-off to determine the two clubs to move up to the Bundesliga for the next season. Western and southern champions Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Bayern Munich were promoted. The Regionalliga () is the fourth tier in the German football league system. Until 1974, it was the second tier in Germany. In 1994, it was introduced as the third tier.
