2019–20 Cymru Premier
The 2019–20 Cymru Premier ( cy, Uwch Gynghrair Cymru 2019-20) (known as JD Cymru Premier for sponsorship reasons) was the 28th season of the Cymru Premier (formerly known as The Welsh Premier League), the highest football league within Wales since its establishment in 1992. Thirteenth-time champions, The New Saints were the defending champions, having won their eighth consecutive title in 2019. The season commenced on 16 August 2019 and concluded in March 2020, a few weeks earlier than the scheduled end date of 25 April 2020. Teams played each other twice on a home and away basis, before the league split into two groups after phase 1 matches were completed on 17 January 2020 – the top six and the bottom six. Cymru Premier
The Cymru Premier, known as the JD Cymru Premier for sponsorship reasons, is the national football league of Wales. It has both professional and semi-professional status clubs and is at the top of the Welsh football league system. Prior to 2002, the league was known as the League of Wales (LoW), but changed its name as part of a sponsorship deal to the Welsh Premier League. The league was rebranded as the Cymru Premier for the 2019–20 season. Cymru North
The Cymru North is a regional football league in Wales, covering the northern half of the country. It has clubs with semi-professional status and together with the Cymru South, it forms the second tier of the Welsh football league system. The first year of its operation was 2019–20 with the Football Association of Wales owning and administering the tier 2 leagues for the first time. These changes followed from a review of the Welsh Football Pyramid. Prior to 2019, the equivalent league was the Cymru Alliance, covering North and Central Wales. Jenner Park is the premier sports stadium in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales and traditional home of football club, Barry Town United. Overview Jenner Park occupies the space of land between Barry's Gladstone Road and Barry Road and has been the setting for the evolution of Barry's senior football club for more than 100 years, as well as hosting athletics, greyhound racing and other attractions over the decades. Maes Tegid
Maes Tegid ( en, Tegid Field) is a community playing field in Bala, Wales. It is currently used mostly for football matches, and is the home ground of Bala Town (). The stadium holds 3,000 people, with 504 seats and has been used by Bala Town since the 1950s. The seats at Maes Tegid are second-hand from Chesterfield and Coventry City, and were installed when Bala won promotion to the Welsh Premier League. Bala Town use Rhyl's Belle Vue stadium for European matches due to UEFA stadium regulations. In January 2016, Bala Town begun discussions to install a synthetic 3G pitch at Maes Tegid. The Airfield
The Airfield, also known by its sponsored name as the Hollingsworth Group International Airfield, is a football stadium in Broughton, Flintshire, Wales. It is home to Airbus UK Broughton F.C., who play in the Cymru Premier. In 2014, the grass surface was replaced with a 3G synthetic pitch. History The Airfield is noted in Welsh football for having retractable floodlights due to the ground being located close to a working runway at Hawarden Airport. Steve Williams, chairman of the Football Association of Wales, stated that he wanted the Wales national football teams to play more international matches in north Wales. The Airfield was suggested as a location for friendlies. The Airfield, however, does not meet UEFA standards, meaning the only international ground in north Wales is the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham. Park Avenue (Welsh: ''Coedlen y Parc'') currently called Aberystwyth University Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a football stadium in Aberystwyth, Wales and has served as the home of Cymru Premier side Aberystwyth Town since 1907. The stadium capacity is 5,000 with 1,500 seats. It is a 4G artificial turf pitch. In May 2021, the ground was designated UEFA Category 2 status after successful inspection by Standards Officer Scott Struthers. Aberystwyth () is a university and seaside town as well as a community in Ceredigion, Wales. Located in the historic county of Cardiganshire, means "the mouth of the Ystwyth". Cymru Alliance
The Cymru Alliance League (known for sponsorship reasons as Huws Gray Alliance) was a football league in north and central Wales which formed the second level of the Welsh football league system. From the 2019/20 season onwards, it was replaced by the Cymru North. If the team which finished top of the league held a Domestic Licence, it could apply for promotion to the Welsh Premier League and was replaced by one of the bottom two teams in the Welsh Premier League. If the league champions did not hold a Domestic Licence, then the team which finished second, if in possession of a Domestic Licence, could be promoted instead. 2018–19 Welsh Football League Division One
The 2018–19 Welsh Football League Division One (known as the Nathaniel Cars Welsh Football League Division One for sponsorship reasons) was the 2018–19 season of the top football league in South Wales. The champions at the end of the season were Penybont. Together with its North Wales counterpart, the Cymru Alliance, the 16-team division formed the second tier of the Welsh football league system, one level below the nationwide Welsh Premier League. The season began on 10 August 2018 and concluded in April 2019. This was the last season as the 'Welsh League Division One' at Tier 2 with FAW Championship South & Mid instead being this level from the 2019–20 season. Penybont F
Penybont (also sometimes spelled Pen-y-Bont) is a small village in Radnorshire, Powys, Wales. The population of the community at the 2011 census was 428. The community includes the settlement of Llandegley. Penybont colliery The Penybont colliery was opened by the Jaynes Tillery Colliery in 1851. The 2018–19 Cymru Alliance, known as the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance for sponsorship reasons, was the 29th and final season of the Cymru Alliance, which is in the second level of the Welsh football pyramid. The league consisted of sixteen teams with the champions promoted to the Welsh Premier League and the bottom team relegated to either the Mid Wales Football League, the Welsh Alliance League or the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area), dependent on the location of that team. The season began on 10 August 2018 and concluded on 27 April 2019. Teams Caernarfon Town were champions in the previous season and were promoted to the Welsh Premier League. They were replaced by Prestatyn Town who were relegated from the Welsh Premier League and Bangor City who were demoted from the Welsh Premier League.
