The season began on 26 October 2019, and was scheduled to conclude on 22 March 2020. On 12 March 2020, the season was suspended due to concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic. The Antigua and Barbuda Premier Division, currently known as the Digicel/Red Stripe Premier Division for sponsorship purposes, is the top football league in Antigua and Barbuda excludes Antigua Barracuda. History It was created in 1968 and is headed by the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association. 10 teams participate in this league. The winner of the league qualifies for the following year's CFU Club Championship. The 9th and 10th placed teams are relegated to the Antigua and Barbuda First Division. Antigua Recreation Ground is the national stadium of Antigua and Barbuda. It is located in St. John's, on the island of Antigua. The ground has been used by the West Indies cricket team and Antigua and Barbuda national football team. It had Test cricket status. It was also known as the Old Recreation Ground, or the Old Rec. against England in the ''"Blackwash"'' series of 1986 at the Recreation Ground. Five Islands Village is a village located on the northwest coast of Antigua, within Saint John Parish in Antigua and Barbuda. Geography The village is on a peninsula, and was named for the five rock islands adjacent in Five Island Harbour. It is about southwest of the nation's capital city St. John's, and connected to it by a single road. The village is surrounded by 12 of the 365 beaches on Antigua. The highest point in the village is Mount Barrington, the location of Fort Barrington. The fort was named after British Admiral Barrington, who captured Caribbean St. Lucia island from the French in 1667. The fort was built during the colonial British Antigua and Barbuda period, mainly as a lookout for any foreign battleships in the area. The 2021 Caribbean Club Shield was originally to be the fourth edition of the Caribbean Club Shield (also known as the CFU Club Shield), the second-tier annual international club football competition in the Caribbean region, held amongst clubs whose football associations are affiliated with the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), a sub-confederation of CONCACAF. The tournament was originally scheduled to be played in Curaçao between 23 April and 2 May 2021. However, CONCACAF decided in early April to postpone the tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Curaçao. Eventually the tournament was cancelled, and a number of teams originally set to participate in the 2021 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield instead participated in the expanded 2021 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship.
