200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. When the sprinters adopt the 'set' position in the blocks they are able to adopt a more efficient starting posture and isometrically preload their muscles. This enables them to stride forwards more powerfully when the race begins and start faster. Leilia Adzhametova (born 3 September 1994) is a Ukrainian para-track and field athlete. Adzhametova competed at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in the T13 classification, winning a gold medal in the women's 100 metres T13 event and a bronze medal in the women's 400 metres T13 event. At the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships she won gold medals in the women's 100 m T13 and women's 100 m T13 events and a bronze medal in the women's 400 m T13 event. Jiang Fenfen
Jiang Fenfen (born 19 September 1997) is a Chinese Paralympic athlete who competes in sprinting events in international level events. She is a Paralympic gold medalist and three-time medalist at the World Para Athletics Championships. Career Jiang was born in 1997 and she was brought up in Hunan Province. Her uncle was a PE teacher and he encouraged her to get involved with sport in 2014. She was recruited as China looked for para-athletes and in 2016 she competed at her first international event. Jiang represented China at the 2016 Summer Paralympics; in the women's 4 × 100 metres relay T35-T38 event she won the gold medal together with Wen Xiaoyan, Chen Junfei and Li Yingli. T37 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics in track and jump events. It includes people who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. It is the athletics equivalent of the more general CP7 classification. Definition This classification is for disability athletics in track and jump events. This classification is one of seven classifications for athletes with cerebral palsy. Similar classifications are T32, T33, T34, T35, T36, and T38. The Australian Paralympic Committee defines this classification as being for "Moderate to minimal hemiplegia (i.e. one half of the body affected – arm and leg on same side). Danielle Aitchison (born 16 August 2001) is a New Zealand para-athlete who is representing her country at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. She competes in the 100 metres and 200 metres in international events. Biography Aitchison was born in Morrinsville in 2001 and grew up in Patetonga in the Hauraki District. She attended Kaihere School. Aitchison was born with severe jaundice, cerebral palsy and 80-90% hearing loss. She has two uncommon types of cerebral palsy: athetoid and ataxia. She has cochlear implants in both ears. While growing up Aitchison participated in ballet, netball and hockey. She began competing in para-athletics at age 16 in 2017, at the Halberg Junior Disability Games in Auckland, New Zealand. She has competed in long jump and won a national title in the event. T36 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics. It includes people who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. Oxana Corso (born 9 July 1995 in Saint Petersburg) is a Russian-born Italian Paralympic athlete. , she holds the Women's 400 metres world records for the T35 cerebral palsy classification. She won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Paralympics, and competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, in 100m T35 and 200m T35.
