2019 Taraba State Gubernatorial Election
The 2019 Taraba State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent People's Democratic Party Governor Darius Ishaku won re-election for a second term in 12 local government areas, defeating former acting governor and All Progressives Congress's Sani Danladi who won in the remaining four with a margin of 157,69 votes, and several minor party candidates. Darius Dickson Ishaku emerged unopposed in the People's Democratic Party gubernatorial primary as the sole candidate. His running mate was Haruna Manu. Of the 30 candidates who aspired for the governorship seat, 28 were male, two were female. Electoral system The Governor of Taraba State is elected using the plurality voting system. Darius Dickson Ishaku
Darius Dickson Ishaku, FNIA, FNITP CON (born 30 July 1954) is a Nigerian architect, urban planner, university lecturer and politician. He is a member of the People's Democratic Party and the Governor of Taraba State. Early life Ishaku was born on 30 July 1954 to Mr Ishaku Istifanus and Mrs Naomi at Lupwe in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State. He is the fifth of ten children from his family. The young Darius was enrolled into St Bartholomew's Primary school, Wusasa, Zaria, in 1961, and graduated in 1967. He then proceeded to famous St. Paul's College Kufena, Zaria, for his secondary education, in 1972 and passed out in flying colours, obtaining West African Examination Certificate (WASC). Aisha Alhassan
Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan (16 September 1959 – 7 May 2021), popularly known as Mama Taraba, was a Nigerian lawyer and politician. She was appointed in 2015 to the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari after his election until her resignation in July 2018. She was previously a senator, representing Taraba North senatorial district of Taraba State, Nigeria which she won under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). She later decamped to the main opposition party All Progressive Congress (APC) and became the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Taraba State for the 2015 general elections. Democratic Alternative is a Nigerian opposition political party. On June 3 and 4, 1994, about 200 Nigerians critical of the military politicians and collaborators met in Benin City to examine the political impasse and decide on a political plan for the country and the peoples. The conference concluded with the adoption of the Constitution and Manifesto, The Liberation Charter to inaugurate the Democratic Alternative (DA). The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a political party in Nigeria. As of 2022, Ralph Nwosu is the National Chairman.There are 2 ADC members currently in the Nigerian National Assembly. The Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA) is a political party in Nigeria. The party won gubernatorial elections in 2003 and 2007 in Abia State.
