2019 St Patrick's Athletic F.C. Season
The 2019 season was St. Patrick's Athletic F.C.'s 90th year in existence and was the Supersaint's 68th consecutive season in the top-flight of Irish football. It was the first season Harry Kenny took charge of the club, following Liam Buckley's spell in charge for the previous seven seasons. The fixtures were announced on 19 December 2018, with the Saints facing Cork City at home on the opening day of the season for the second year in a row, with the Inchicore side set to play champions Dundalk away from home on the final night of the season. Harry Kenny left his post on the 24th August following a 3–1 loss away to bottom of the table UCD in the FAI Cup. He was replaced by Stephen O'Donnell on the 31st August, his first managerial role. Pats finished 5th in the league and won the Leinster Senior Cup, playing the semi final and final with their underage sides after the league season had ended for the senior team. The UEFA Europa League (abbreviated as UEL, or sometimes, UEFA EL), formerly the UEFA Cup, is an annual football club competition organised since 1971 by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for eligible European football clubs. Barry Murphy (born 8 June 1985) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper in the League of Ireland Premier Division for Shamrock Rovers over 2 spells, Bohemians and St Patrick's Athletic over 3 spells. Club career Shamrock Rovers He made his League of Ireland debut on 20 May 2005, keeping a clean sheet against Waterford, after the departure of Russell Payne. Having come through the club's youth system in 2004, where he was U21 Player of the Year, he made rapid progress to become the club's Young Player of the Year and Player of the Year for 2005. He played a total of 25 league games in his first season keeping seven clean sheets. Murphy kept 24 clean sheets from 35 games during the 2006 campaign as Rovers won the First Division. Liam Buckley
Liam Buckley (born 14 April 1960), is an Irish former professional footballer. He made two appearances for the Republic of Ireland national football team. He was most recently the manager of League of Ireland Premier Division club Sligo Rovers FC. Playing career Buckley began his League of Ireland career with Shelbourne and signed for Shamrock Rovers as a full-time player in the 1979 close season. He scored his first goal for the Hoops against his former club at Milltown on 21 October 1979 and he went on to score another seven league goals that season. On 30 April 1980 he represented the League of Ireland against Argentina at the River Plate Stadium where Diego Maradona scored in a 1–0 defeat.
