2019 Premier League Asia Trophy
The 2019 Premier League Asia Trophy was the ninth edition of the Premier League Asia Trophy. Manchester City, Newcastle United, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers competed for the Premier League Asia Trophy. It was held in two cities for the first time, Nanjing and Shanghai, from 17 July to 20 July 2019. Wolverhampton Wanderers won their first title following their 3–2 victory on penalties over Manchester City. Wolverhampton () is a city, metropolitan borough and administrative centre in the West Midlands, England. The population size has increased by 5.7%, from around 249,500 in 2011 to 263,700 in 2021. People from the city are called "Wulfrunians". Historically part of Staffordshire, the city grew initially as a market town specialising in the wool trade. In the Industrial Revolution, it became a major centre for coal mining, steel production, lock making, and the manufacture of cars and motorcycles. Lukas Okechukwu Nmecha (born 14 December 1998) is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg and the Germany national team. Nmecha was born in Hamburg, Germany but relocated to England as a child with his family. He represented his birth country for the first time with the Germany U21 national team, despite being capped by England at the same level. Danilo Luiz da Silva (born 15 July 1991), known as Danilo, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for club Juventus and the Brazil national team. Ryan Bennett (born 6 March 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre back for EFL League One club Cambridge United. He was a youth product of Ipswich Town but was not offered a professional contract and thus signed for Grimsby Town in 2006. Hongkou Football Stadium () is a football stadium in Shanghai, China. Located in Hongkou District, the stadium has a maximum capacity of 33,060. It is the first ever football stadium to be built in China.
