2019 Parañaque Local Elections
Local elections were held in Parañaque on May 13, 2019 within the 2019 Philippine general election. Voters elected for the elective local posts in the city: the mayor, vice mayor, two congressmen, and the 16 councilors, eight each in the two local legislative districts of Parañaque. Background Mayor Edwin Olivarez ran for third and final term. He was challenged by former Mayor Florencio "Jun" Bernabe Jr. Vice Mayor Jose Enrico "Rico" Golez ran for third and final term. Edwin Olivarez
Edwin de Leon Olivarez (born August 14, 1963) is a Filipino politician, athlete, and businessman currently serving as a Member of the Philippine House of Representatives from Parañaque's 1st District since 2022 and previously from 2010 to 2013. He previously served as Mayor of Parañaque from 2013 to 2022, as well as the Metro Manila Council Chair and head of the Regional Peace and Order Council – National Capital Region in concurrent capacity. Local elections in the Philippines were held on May 13, 2019. This was conducted together with the 2019 general election for national positions. All elected positions above the barangay (village) level were disputed. The following positions were disputed: * 81 provincial governorships and vice-governorships * 780 Provincial Board (Sangguniang Panlalawigan) members * 1,634 mayorships and vice mayorships * 13,544 city and municipal councilors (Sangguniang Panlungsod and Sangguniang Bayan) The elective positions in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) were not decided on this day.
