Root (board Game)
''Root: A Game of Woodland Might and Right'' is a 2018 Game theory#Symmetric / asymmetric, asymmetric board game designed by Cole Wehrle, illustrated by Kyle Ferrin, and published by Leder Games. In ''Root'', players compete for the most victory points through moving and battling using varying functions with unique abilities. Upon its release, ''Root'' received positive reviews, and was followed by four expansions. A digital version, developed by Dire Wolf Digital, was released in 2020. Gameplay In ''Root'', 2-4 players compete in an asymmetric wargame to control a forest. Each player controls a different faction, each of which has different gameplay elements, tactics, and point scoring options. In the base game, 4 factions are present: the Eyrie, Marquise de Cat, Woodland Alliance, and the Vagabond. Necromunda
''Necromunda'' is a skirmish tabletop war game produced by Games Workshop since 1995. It has been relaunched as ''Necromunda: Underhive'' in 2017. In ''Necromunda'', players control rival gangs battling each other in the Underhive, a place of anarchy and violence in the depths below the Hive City. As in its parent game ''Warhammer 40,000'', ''Necromunda'' uses 28 mm miniatures (approximately 1:56) and terrain (in this case, the Underhive – a heavily polluted, underground industrial environment). Necromunda allows players to develop their gangs between battles, gaining experience, gaining and losing new members or equipment, according to a set of rules. Gangs that frequently win games acquire more credits (money) and fewer injuries and so are able to grow throughout a campaign. Apples To Apples
''Apples to Apples'' is a party game originally published by Out of the Box Publishing Inc., and now by Mattel. Players start with a hand of seven "red apple" cards, which feature nouns. A player is selected to be the first judge, and that judge plays a "green apple" card, which features an adjective. The round is won by playing the "red apple" card that the judge determines to be the best match for the "green apple" card. The role of the judge rotates, and the number of rounds is determined by the number of players. The game is designed for four to ten players and played for 30–75 minutes. ''Apples to Apples'' was chosen by Mensa International in 1999 as a "Mensa Select" prizewinner, an award given to five games each year. Vladimír Chvátil (born 1971), often known professionally as Vlaada Chvátil , is a Czech board game and video game designer. He became a recognizable name in the board game community following the publication of '' Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization'' in 2006 and thereafter his designs frequently made the top 100 list on BoardGameGeek. In 2016, he won the coveted " Spiel des Jahres" (Game of the Year) award for '' Codenames''. In 2019, he entered the Origins Award Hall of Fame. His most notable video game project was a real-time strategy '' Original War''. He later worked on the role-playing video game ''Vision'' that has never been finished. Gerald Brom (born March 9, 1965), known professionally as Brom, is an American gothic fantasy artist and illustrator, known for his work in role-playing games, novels, and comics. Early life Brom was born March 9, 1965, in Albany, Georgia. As the son of a U.S. Army pilot he spent much of his early years on the move, living in other countries such as Japan and Germany (he graduated from Frankfurt American High School), and in U.S. states including Alabama and Hawaii. Brought up as a military dependent he was known by his last name only, and now signs his name as simply Brom: "I get that asked more than just about any other question. The Origins Awards are American awards for outstanding work in the game industry. They are presented by the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design at the Origins Game Fair on an annual basis for the previous year, so (for example) the 1979 awards were given at the 1980 Origins. The Origins Award is commonly referred to as a Calliope, as the statuette is in the likeness of the muse of the same name. Academy members frequently shorten this name to "Callie".
