2019 North Dakota Fighting Hawks Football Team
The 2019 North Dakota Fighting Hawks football team represented the University of North Dakota during the 2019 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Led by sixth-year head coach Bubba Schweigert, they played their home games at the Alerus Center. They finished the season 7–5. They received an at-large bid to the FCS Playoffs, where they would lose to Nicholls in the first round. The Fighting Hawks left the Big Sky Conference in 2018 to join the non-football Summit League, with the football program joining the Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2020. Although being classified as an independent for football in 2018 and 2019, they continued to play a full Big Sky schedule, and their games counted in the conference standings for their opponents. Bubba Schweigert
Kyle Frederick "Bubba" Schweigert (born September 15, 1962) is an American football coach. He is the current head football coach at the University of North Dakota. From 2004 to 2007, Schweigert served as the head football coach at University of Minnesota Duluth. From 2008 to 2013 he was the defensive coordinator at Southern Illinois University. Early coaching career Schweigert started his coaching career at his alma mater, Jamestown College—now the University of Jamestown. He coached football at Jamestown from 1985 to 1988 and was admissions counselor and the head baseball coach. In 1989, he began 15 seasons as an assistant coach at the University of North Dakota (UND), where he was part of eight NCAA playoff teams and six North Central Conference (NCC) title squads. Stewart Stadium
Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium is an outdoor multi-purpose stadium in the western United States, located on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. Originally Wildcat Stadium, it was renamed in 1998 for Stewart (1905–1996), a notable campus and community benefactor. Used primarily for football, the 17,312-seat venue is the home of the Weber State Wildcats of the Big Sky Conference. It was expanded in 1966 with the construction of the primary grandstand along the northwest sideline, nearly doubling its capacity. The elevation of its synthetic turf playing field is above sea level; aligned northeast to southwest, the field was natural grass until 2011.
