2019 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The 2019 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was the thirty-fifth season of the Whelen Modified Tour (WMT), a stock car racing tour sanctioned by NASCAR. It began with the Performance Plus 150 presented by Safety-Kleen at Myrtle Beach Speedway on March 16 and concluded with the Sunoco World Series 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on October 13. Justin Bonsignore entered the season as the defending drivers' champion. 2019 marked the third season of the unification of the Whelen (Northern) Modified Tour and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) (previously the NASCAR Winston Modified Tour and NASCAR Featherlite Modified Series from 1985 until 2005) is a modified stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR in the Modified Division. The Modified Division is NASCAR's oldest division, and is the only open-wheeled division that NASCAR sanctions. NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour events are mainly held in the northeastern United States, but the 2007 and 2008 tours expanded to the Midwest with the addition of a race in Mansfield, Ohio. The tour races primarily on short oval paved tracks, but the NWMT also has made appearances at larger ovals and road courses. Tommy Baldwin Jr
Thomas S. Baldwin Jr. (born October 27, 1966) is the team majority owner of Tommy Baldwin Racing and Competition Director of Premium Motorsports, the latter for whom he also serves as crew chief of the No. 15 car in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. His father, Tom Baldwin, was a champion NASCAR modified driver. Baldwin himself briefly pursued a racing career before becoming a mechanic. Mike Curb
Michael Curb (born December 24, 1944) is an American musician, record company executive, motorsports car owner, philanthropist, and former politician. He is also the founder of Curb Records where he presently serves as the chairman. Curb also serves as Chairman of Word Entertainment. He is an inductee of the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame. A Republican, Curb served as the 42nd lieutenant governor of California from 1979 to 1983. Andy Seuss
Andrew T. Seuss (born March 15, 1987) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He won two consecutive championships in 2014 and 2015 in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Seuss has also competed in the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Whelen Modified Tour, ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East. Bryan Dauzat
Bryan Keith Dauzat (pronounced "dough-zuh"; born November 30, 1959) is an American professional stock car racing driver who competes part-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the No. 28 Chevrolet Silverado for FDNY Racing. He has also competed in the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in the past. Frank Fleming (born July 25, 1959) is an American stock car racing driver. Fleming previously competed in the NASCAR Busch Series and the NASCAR Southern Modified Tour. Currently, he competes in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. Fleming competed in 10 NASCAR Busch Series races between 1988 and 1991. Robert Santos III (born October 3, 1985) is an American professional racing driver from Franklin, Massachusetts. He graduated in 2004 from Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School. Santos, nicknamed "Bobby New England", is the grandson of Bobby Santos, a former modified racer. His sister, Erica Santos, is also a racecar driver. Chuck Hossfeld (born January 4, 1977) is an American race car driver and team owner. He is a former racer in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, and NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Hossfeld began racing at the age of twelve in kart racing at Lancaster Speedway. Five years later, he began racing stock cars at local short tracks and moved to North Carolina, working for former modified drivers Brett Bodine and Randy LaJoie. Jimmy Blewett
James Robert Blewett (born August 26, 1980) is a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver. He is the younger brother of the late John Blewett III. Early career At 14 years of age, Blewett started racing karts at New Egypt Speedway and Flemington Speedway. At 18, he moved up into a Pro Stock (Now Sportsman) race car at Wall Township Speedway. Mike Stefanik
Michael Paul Stefanik (May 20, 1958 – September 15, 2019) was an American professional stock car racing driver. He competed mainly in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, but also made appearances in the Busch Grand National series and the Craftsman Truck Series. A seven-time champion in the Modified series, Stefanik was named the second greatest NASCAR Modified driver of all-time in 2003. His nine total championships (two in the Busch North Series) tie him with Richie Evans for the most in NASCAR history. Stefanik is a member of the 2021 NASCAR Hall of Fame class. Musket 250
The Musket 250 is a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Whelen Modified Series has been racing since September 2, 1990. This race was originally 125 laps, but in 1997 was reduced to 100 laps. This race was held during the ISM Connect 300 race weekend until 2017 when Las Vegas replaced Loudon in the NASCAR playoffs. As a result, starting in 2018, the September race at Loudon now features the Modifieds as the feature division, with a 250 lap, 264.5 mile event, the all-time record of distance of Whelen Modified Tour in the touring format. In 1969 and 1970, Martinsville Speedway ran the NASCAR Modified Division with 263-mile races (500 laps). The ARCA Menards Series East (formally K&N Pro East) will continue to be part of the schedule, but the NASCAR Pinty's Series from Canada replaces the Cup Series on that weekend.
