2019 Loudoun United FC Season
The 2019 Loudoun United FC season is Loudoun United FC's first season of existence, their first in the second-division of American soccer, and their 1st in the USL Championship. It is the first season since 2011 D.C. United will be fielding a reserve team. Background On July 18, 2018, the club was announced by USL and D.C. United as were the team's name, colors and crest. Loudoun United replaced Richmond Kickers as D.C.'s USL affiliate. Review Early season On March 9, 2019, Loudoun United played their first USL Championship game, losing 0–2 against Nashville SC. The next week, Loudoun had their first goal in club history, when Griffin Yow scored in the 30th minute against Memphis 901 FC in a game that ended in a 1–1 draw. On April 3, it was announced that Loudoun would play in Audi Field for three "home away from home" games. Loudoun United FC is an American professional soccer team based in Leesburg, Virginia. The team was founded in 2018 as the reserve team of D.C. United and made its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. History On July 18, 2018, the team was officially announced by USL and D.C. United as were the team's name, colors and crest. Loudoun United FC replaced Richmond Kickers as D.C. United's USL affiliate. Colors and badge Loudoun United FC colors are black, red and white, the same as parent club D.C. United. The club's crest contains the red-and-white gyronny seen in the flag and coat of arms of Loudoun County, as well as a winged horse in homage to both D.C. United's eagle logo and the county's long association with equestrian sports. Sponsorship Stadium The club plays at Segra Field, a new 5,000-seat stadium at Philip A. Bolen Memorial Park in Leesburg. Audi Field is a soccer-specific stadium in Buzzard Point in Washington, D.C. It is the home stadium for both of Washington, DC’s professional soccer teams, D.C. Cameron Paul Lancaster (born 5 November 1992) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Louisville City in the USL Championship. Early life Lancaster was born in Camden and raised in Muswell Hill. He attended East Barnet School. He played for Oakhill Tigers in the Watford Friendly League as a boy. Shinya Kadono (born 30 January 1997) is a Japanese footballer who plays as a midfielder for Irvine Zeta in the National Independent Soccer Association.
