2019 Lithuanian Football Cup
2019 Lithuanian Football Cup, SHARP LFF Cup was the 31st independent Lithuania and the 74th overall national football cup tournament. The tournament started on 26 April 2019, and the final took place on 29 September 2019. The competition format is a single-elimination tournament, all ties are contested in a single match. The cup winners qualify for the 2020–21 UEFA Europa League. The defending champions were FK Žalgiris. Participants Participation in the competition is mandatory for all clubs of the top three tiers (A Lyga, LFF I Lyga, LFF II Lyga). Teams of lower divisions are eligible to apply for participation if they meet licensing criteria. The reserve teams are not allowed to participate in the cup competition. The application submission deadline was the 5 April 2019. The deadline was extended to 15 April due to increased interest in the competition from the lower divisions, which are getting refereeing costs paid by the LFF this year. The Lithuanian Football Federation Cup ( lt, Lietuvos futbolo federacijos taurė), also known as Hegelmann LFF Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a Lithuanian football cup competition contested in a knockout tournament format. The winner of the cup gains entitlement to participate in the Lithuanian Supercup as well as the UEFA Europa Conference League. The clubs of A Lyga, I Lyga, II Lyga, III Lyga and IV Lyga are eligible to compete. The competition format is a single-elimination tournament. The competition was sponsored by Sharp in 2018-2019, and by Hegelmann in 2020. FC Stumbras
Football Club Stumbras was a professional football club, based in Kaunas, Lithuania, which played in A Lyga, the top tier of Lithuanian football. Founded in 2013 on the basis of the NFA, the club has reached the heights of Lithuanian football in a fairly short period of time. It became infamous for one-sided footballer contracts. The club stopped functioning mid-season in 2019 after the owner pulled out the funds. The club played its home matches at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium (capacity 9,180) and used the NFA stadium in Kaunas (capacity 500) as an alternative. Kelmės Futbolo Klubas-VJSM, commonly known as Kelmės FK-VJSM, is a Lithuanian football club located in Kelmė, center of Kelmė District. During the 2015 and 2016 seasons in the I Lyga, the team was known as Kražantė. In 2019 season the club is playing in the II Lyga Western Zone. Futbolo Klubas Vilnius or FK Vilnius is a Lithuanian football club based in Vilnius. It plays its home matches at the Fabijoniškių gimnazijos Stadium. The academy train women's and men's teams, as well as children's and underage groups in "U" type championships. They currently play in the I Lyga, the second tier of Lithuanian football. FK Atmosfera is a phoenix club of Atmosfera Mažeikiai. History Mažeikiai has a deep history of football. Since the mid-20th century, there was a football club that competed at the top tier of the Lithuanian SSR football league, achieving two championship titles during that time. This club changed names frequently, but was named Atmosfera Mažeikiai between 1973 and 1990. Between 1990 and 2012, several clubs in Mažeikiai rose up and fell apart, mostly due to financial circumstances. Football club Kupiškis, commonly known as Kupiškis was a Lithuanian association football, football team from Kupiškis. History The club was formed in 2018, and made headlines when it was granted exception to participate straight away in the 2nd tier league even after failing the licensing process. The club was struggling, but it made headlines again by trashing FK Koralas Klaipėda 12:0. The game was dubbed a circus, and flagged for match fixing. While investigation was taking place, another game was flagged, against FK Panevėžys. As a result of the investigation, five players were suspended. The team finished the season in 13th position, only above dissolved club FK Koralas Klaipėda. Futbolo centras Pakruojis, commonly known as Pakruojis, was a Football in Lithuania, Lithuanian Football (soccer), football club located in Pakruojis, center of Pakruojis District Municipality, Pakruojis District. History Club was created in January 2016 after the dissolution of another Pakruojis-based club, FK Kruoja Pakruojis, Kruoja. Football Club Džiugas Telšiai, commonly known as Džiugas Telšiai, or simply as Džiugas, is a Lithuanian association football club based in Telšiai, that competes in the A Lyga, top tier of Lithuanian football. History On the 2 November 1923, sport association Džiugas was established in Telšiai. During the period between 1923–1946, the club had football, basketball, ice hockey teams and expanded to other sports of the city.
