2019 Major League Soccer Season
The 2019 Major League Soccer season was the 24th season of Major League Soccer. The regular season began on March 2, 2019 and ended on October 6. The MLS Cup Playoffs began on October 19 and concluded with MLS Cup 2019 on November 10, under a new format that included 14 teams and consisted only of single-match rounds. FC Cincinnati joined the league as an expansion franchise, bringing the total number of clubs to 24. Minnesota United FC opened their first soccer-specific stadium, Allianz Field, on April 13. Atlanta United FC were the defending MLS Cup champions, while New York Red Bulls were the defending Supporters' Shield winners. Los Angeles FC won their first Supporters' Shield with an MLS single-season record 72 points, while Seattle Sounders FC won their second MLS Cup title. Pensacola FC Women
The Pensacola FC Women are an American soccer team based in Pensacola, Florida. Founded in 2011 as the Gulf Coast Texans, they play in the Gulf Coast Premier League. History The team was founded as Gulf Coast Texans in 2011. The team captured the 2012 WPSL title defeating Boston Aztec 4–0 in the final. The team reached the WPSL Final again in 2017, but fell short losing to Fire & Ice SC. In 2018 the first year playing as Pensacola FC, the team made the final again but this time losing to Seattle Sounders ladies 3-1 in 2018. In 2019 however playing against a star studded Utah Royals Reserve team, PFC were crowned Champions by a margin of 4-3 in the finals under the Helm of longstanding Head Coach David Kemp and assistants Jason Providence and Dean Logan. Gyasi A. Zardes (born September 2, 1991) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a forward for Austin FC of Major League Soccer and the United States national team. Born in Hawthorne, California, Zardes was part of the LA Galaxy youth academy before playing college soccer for Cal State Bakersfield. After playing three seasons with the Roadrunners, Zardes signed for the LA Galaxy as a homegrown player. In his first season, he immediately established himself as a regular in Bruce Arena's squad, and the next season he scored 16 goals as he helped the Galaxy win MLS Cup 2014.
