Group B was one of two groups of the 2019 IIHF World Championship. The four best placed teams advanced to the playoff round, while the last placed team was relegated to Division I in 2020. 2019 IIHF World Championship
The 2019 IIHF World Championship was hosted from 10 to 26 May 2019 by Slovakia. It was the second time that Slovakia has hosted the event as an independent country, as was the case in 2011. The host cities were Bratislava and Košice, as announced by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) on 15 May 2015 in Prague, Czech Republic. Finland won their third title by defeating Canada in the final. The Finns had 18 first-timers for the 2019 IIHF World Championship and were widely regarded as an outsider to win any medal at all. Despite this, the Finns won their third World Championship and lost only two games in the tournament (against the USA, and Germany). Russia secured the bronze medal after a penalty-shootout win over the Czech Republic. Alexander Reichenberg
Aleksander Prince Fredrik Ramprecht Reichenberg (born June 13, 1992) is a Norwegian professional ice hockey forward currently playing for IK Oskarshamn in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and for the Norwegian national team. Playing career While born in Mora, Sweden, Reichenberg began his professional career with hometown club, Lillehammer IK in the GET-ligaen (GET) during the 2008–09 season. After playing two seasons with rival club Storhamar Ishockey and moving abroad for the 2017–18 season with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga (ELH), Reichenberg returned to Lillehammer on 1 September 2018. Jakub Voráček
Jakub Voráček (; born 15 August 1989) is a Czech professional ice hockey right winger who plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League (NHL). Voráček was drafted seventh overall by the Blue Jackets at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. In 2011, Voráček was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Jeff Carter. He played for the Flyers until 2021 when he was traded back to Columbus in exchange for Cam Atkinson. He has also played in his native Czech Republic for HC Lev Praha and Kladno. Dominik Simon (born 8 August 1994) is a Czech professional ice hockey forward currently under contract with HC Sparta Praha of the Czech Extraliga (ELH). He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins, 137th overall, in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Early career Simon played in the 2007 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a youth team from Chomutov. Michael Frolík
Michael Frolík (; born 17 February 1988) is a Czech professional ice hockey right winger who is currently playing with HC Bílí Tygři Liberec in the Czech Extraliga. Frolík has played in the NHL with the Florida Panthers, the organization that drafted him tenth overall in 2006, as well as the Chicago Blackhawks, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2013. Jan Kovář (born 20 March 1990) is Czech professional ice hockey forward who currently serves as captain of EV Zug of the National League (NL). He is the younger brother of Jakub Kovář. Ondrej Nepela Arena
The Ondrej Nepela Arena ( sk, Zimný Štadión Ondreja Nepelu) (also known as ''Orange Arena'' during the 2011 IIHF Championship, or as ''Slovnaft Arena'') is an indoor arena in Bratislava, Slovakia. It is primarily used for ice hockey and it was the home arena of the KHL's HC Slovan Bratislava. History It opened in 1940 and held 8,350 people until its full reconstruction started in 2009.
