2019 Hungaroring FIA Formula 2 Round
The 2019 Budapest Formula 2 round was a pair of motor races held on 3 and 4 August 2019 at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród, Hungary as part of the FIA Formula 2 Championship. It was the eighth round of the 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship and was run in support of the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying ;Notes * – Sean Gelael served a three-place grid penalty that was due to be served at the previous round at Silverstone before he withdrew from the race. * – Anthoine Hubert and Tatiana Calderón were excluded from the qualifying results and had their lap times deleted for failing to comply with the tyre nomination information supplied to the FIA. Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship
The 2019 FIA Formula 2 Championship was the fifty-third season of the second-tier of Formula One feeder championship and also third season under the moniker of FIA Formula 2 Championship, a motor racing championship for Formula 2 cars that is sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). It is an open-wheel racing category that serves as the second tier of formula racing in the FIA Global Pathway. The category was run in support of the 2019 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. George Russell was the reigning drivers' champion, having won the title at the final round of the 2018 championship in Abu Dhabi. Russell would drive in Formula One for Williams in 2019. Muhammad Sean Ricardo Gelael (born 1 November 1996) is an Indonesian racing driver currently competing with WRT in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He competed in GP2 Series from 2015 to 2016, and the FIA Formula 2 Championship from 2017 to 2020, racing for DAMS in his final season. Ralph Boschung (born 23 September 1997) is a Swiss racing driver set to compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for Campos Racing. It was founded in 2006 in order to compete in the GP2 championship, which was Europe's second highest-ranking single-seater formula below Formula One. Juan Manuel Correa Borja (born August 9, 1999) is an American-Ecuadorian racing driver who races under an American license and is set to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Van Amersfoort Racing.
