The 2019 season is Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi's 111th competitive season. Season Events New contracts On 30 November 2018, Faith Obilor signed a new contract until the end of the 2019 season. On 8 February, Kevin Kouassivi-Benissan signed a new contract until the end of the 2020 season, with an option for an additional year. On 22 February, Nikolai Alho signed a new contract until the end of the 2019 season. On 15 March, Riku Riski signed a new contract until the end of the 2021 season. On 17 June, Santeri Väänänen signed a new contract until the end of the 2021 season. Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi (), commonly known as HJK Helsinki, or simply as HJK, is a professional football club based in Helsinki, Finland. The club competes in the Finnish Veikkausliiga. Founded in 1907, the club has spent most of its history in the top tier of Finnish football. The club's home ground is the 10,770-seat Bolt Arena, where they have played since 2000. Generally considered as Finland's biggest club, HJK is the most successful Finnish club in terms of championship titles with 32. The club has also won 14 Finnish Cups and 5 Finnish League Cups. Many of Finland's most successful players have played for HJK before moving abroad. The club has also similar success with women's Kansallinen Liiga. Markus Uusitalo (born 15 May 1997) is a Finnish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career On 13 November 2019 FC Honka confirmed that Uusitalo would join the club for the 2020 season, signing a deal until the end of the year. He moved on loan to HIFK for the 2021 season. Roni Peiponen
Roni Peiponen (9 April 1997 – November/December 2022) was a Finnish professional footballer who played as a right-back. He retired in July 2020. Club career Molde In November 2015, Peiponen moved from HJK Helsinki to Norwegian side Molde FK on a three-and-a-half year contract. Daniel Michael O'Shaughnessy (born 14 September 1994) is a Finnish professional footballer who plays for Karlsruher SC and the Finland national team as a defender. Kuopion Palloseura (or KuPS) is a Finnish football club, based in the ninth most populated city of Finland, Kuopio. KuPS plays in Finland's Premier League, Veikkausliiga. Henri Toivomäki (born 21 February 1991) is a Finnish footballer, who plays as a defender for KuPS. He previously played for Sarpsborg 08, FC Lahti, Atalanta, FC Hämeenlinna, AFC Ajax and Almere City FC.
