2019 Dutch Basketball Supercup
The 2019 Dutch Basketball Supercup was the 8th edition of the Dutch Basketball Supercup. The game was played in the Landstede Sportcentrum in Zwolle for the first time. The game featured Landstede Hammers, the first-time defending champions of the 2018–19 Dutch Basketball League, and ZZ Leiden, the winners of the 2018–19 NBB Cup. Hammers won the game and secured its second Supercup title. Background It was the re-match of the 2018–19 NBB Cup final, which was also played in the Landstede Sportcentrum and was won by Leiden, 69–87. Landstede Hammers came off its first national title in club history and saw most of its players returning. The team strengthened itself with two new Americans, Jordan Johnson and Martez Walker. Landstede Hammers
Landstede Hammers is a Dutch basketball club based in Zwolle. The club plays in the BNXT League, the Dutch top tier division. The club was founded as Cees Lubbers The Hammers in 1995. In 1999, the club’s name was changed into Landstede Hammers. In 2001, the club received its current name Landstede Basketbal as the team became part of the same-named educational institution in Zwolle. The home games of the club are played in the Landstede Sportcentrum. In its existence, Landstede won the DBL championship one time in 2019. ZZ Leiden Basketball, also known as Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden, is a basketball club based in Leiden, Netherlands. The club plays in the BNXT League, the domestic first tier league. Landstede Sportcentrum
The Landstede Sportcentrum is an indoor sports complex located in Zwolle, Netherlands, which is used as a sports arena and was opened in 2010. It is the home of basketball team Landstede Hammers. The "centre court", which is used by both the club has a capacity of 1,200 people. The complex is owned by ROC Landstede, a company that is also main sponsor of the basketball and volleyball clubs. The Sportcentrum is also used for many other sports, like artistic gymnastics and table tennis. In 2011 and 2012, the international basketball tournament Basketball Days was held in the Sportcentrum. The match is played by the champions of the Dutch Basketball League and the winner of the NBB Cup. It is a super cup competition. The first Supercup game was held in 2011. 2018–19 Dutch Basketball League
The 2018–19 Dutch Basketball League (DBL) was the 59th season of the Dutch Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands. The regular season started on 6 October 2018 and ended 30 April 2019. The best eight teams qualify for the playoffs which start on 2 May 2019. Donar was the defending champion. The season saw Landstede Zwolle win its first domestic championship, after defeating defending champions Donar in the finals. Format Due to the increase of teams from nine to ten, the format for the DBL season was changed. The eight highest-placed teams during the regular season qualify for the play-offs, while the two last-placed teams are eliminated. In the quarter-finals, a best-of-three series is played. Mohamed Kherrazi (born 29 June 1990) is a Dutch-Moroccan professional basketball player who plays for Leuven Bears of the BNXT League. He is also a member of the Dutch national basketball team. He is a record three-time DBL Defensive Player of the Year winner. Early life Kherrazi was born and grew up in Errachidia, where he started playing basketball with his brothers.
