2019 Colonial Athletic Association Football Season
The 2019 Colonial Athletic Association football season was the thirteenth season of football for the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and part of the 2019 NCAA Division I FCS football season. Previous season Despite being picked eighth in the preseason poll, Maine won the CAA championship outright with a conference record of 7–1. They were joined in the FCS playoffs by James Madison, Stony Brook, Towson, Delaware, and Elon. It marked the first time in FCS history that any conference qualified six teams for the playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs, James Madison defeated conference mate Delaware, while Stony Brook, Towson, and Elon lost their matchups. In the second round, James Madison fell to Colgate while 7-seed Maine, which had received a first-round bye, defeated Jacksonville State. NCAA Division I Football Championship
The NCAA Division I Football Championship is an annual post-season college football game, played since 2006, used to determine a national champion of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). From 1978 to 2005, the game was known as the NCAA Division I-AA Football Championship. The game serves as the final match of an annual postseason bracket tournament between top teams in FCS. Since 2013, 24 teams normally participate in the tournament, with some teams receiving automatic bids upon winning their conference championship, and other teams determined by a selection committee. The reigning national champions are the North Dakota State Bison, who won the championship game for the 2021 season (their 9th overall). Tony Trisciani (born April 24, 1973) is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina a position he has held since the 2019 season. Before becoming head coach, Trisciani was the defensive coordinator for the Elon Phoenix under head coach Curt Cignetti. Trisciani also served as the defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator at Elon in 2006. 2019 Central Michigan Chippewas Football Team
The 2019 Central Michigan Chippewas football team represented Central Michigan University in the 2019 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by first-year head coach Jim McElwain and played their home games at Kelly/Shorts Stadium as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium is a 10,221-seat multi-purpose stadium in Hamilton, New York, United States. It is the home of Colgate University's football and men's lacrosse teams. Colgate opened the stadium in 1939, originally as Colgate Athletic Field. Colgate's football teams – then known as the Red Raiders and competing at the highest level of NCAA play – were coached during the stadium's inaugural year by Andy Kerr, who led the team from 1929 to 1946. Rob Ambrose
Rob Ambrose (born July 30, 1970) is an American college football coach. From 2009 to 2022, he was head coach of the Towson Tigers football team of Towson University. Ambrose was formerly the offensive coordinator of the UConn Huskies before being announced as Towson's head coach in December 2008. Ambrose played wide receiver for Towson in the early 1990s. Chuck Priore
Chuck Priore (born February 17, 1960) is an American football coach and former player. He is the current head football coach at Stony Brook University, a position he has held since the 2006 season. Priore served the head football coach at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut from 2000 to 2005. He was also the head men's lacrosse coach at the University at Albany in 1986 and at Union College in Schenectady, New York from 1988 to 1991. Priore's coaching style is known for his run-heavy offense and aggressive defense. Playing career Priore played football at the University at Albany before graduating in 1982.
