2019 French Open – Women's Singles
Ashleigh Barty defeated Markéta Vondroušová in the final, 6–1, 6–3 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2019 French Open. It was her first major singles title, making her the first Australian to win a French Open singles title since Margaret Court in 1973 and the first to win any major singles title since Samantha Stosur at the 2011 US Open. Simona Halep was the defending champion, but lost to Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals. Anisimova became the first tennis player born in the 21st century to reach the quarterfinals and semifinals of a major. As most of the quarterfinalists were born in the 1990s.
