2019 Abia State House Of Assembly Election
The 2019 Abia State House of Assembly election was held on March 9, 2019, to elect members of the Abia State House of Assembly in Nigeria. All the 24 seats were up for election in the Abia State House of Assembly. PDP won all the 24 available seats. Upon the opening of the 7th State House of Assembly, Chinedum Orji (Umuahia Central) was elected as Speaker of the House while Ifeanyi Uchendu (PDP-Ohafia South) and Solomon Akpulonu (PDP-Obingwa East) became Deputy Speaker and House Leader, respectively. Results Aba Central A total of 19 candidates registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission to contest in the election. APGA candidate Abraham Oba won the election, defeating PDP Sunday Maduako and 17 other party candidates. Oba got 6,268 votes, while his closest rival got 4,331. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji is a Nigerian politician and former member of parliament who represented Umuahia Central State Constituency. He served as the 11th Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly since June 10, 2019 till June 10, 2023. He was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly on the 10th of June, 2019 during the Inauguration of the 7th Abia State House of Assembly. Early life Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji was born on December 25, 1970, to the family of Senator Theodore Orji and Chief Mrs. Odochi Orji of Amaokwe in Ugba village, Ugba Autonomous Community in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria.
