2018–19 Women's LEN Trophy
The 2018–19 Women's LEN Trophy was the 20th edition of the European second-tier tournament for women's water polo clubs. It was contested in Kirishi, Russia, on 12 and 13 April 2019. Italy's Orizzonte Catania defeated Hungary's UVSE in the final match. Orizzonte won the title for the first time in its history, gaining the only trophy that was still missing from its list of Honours. It was also the first time that a female head coach (former player Martina Miceli, gold medalist at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games) led a club to a European cup victory. Teams The participants were the four teams eliminated from the Euro League's quarterfinals. Final Four The draw of the semifinals and the allocation of the Final 4 to Kirishi were announced by LEN on 13 March 2019. Women's LEN Trophy
The Women's LEN Trophy is LEN's second-tier competition for women's water polo clubs. It was first held in 2000 as the LEN Women's Cup Winners' Cup. It was contested for many seasons by around 15 teams, which could qualify for it either directly due to high ranking in their domestic league or by being eliminated at certain stages of the Champions' Cup. After the last reformations in the European competitions system by LEN, only four teams contesting for the trophy, coming after elimination at that season's LEN Euro League quarterfinals stage. Italy's Gifa Palermo, Ortigia, Racing Roma, Imperia, Russia's Shturm Ruza, and Greece's Ethnikos are the most successful clubs in the competition with two titles each. CS Plebiscito Padova (''Centro Sportivo del Plebiscito Padova'') is an Italian water polo club based in Padua. Plebiscito Padova is the main water polo team in the city of Padua with men and women teams in the field. Men's team The men's team founded in 1984 and currently is playing in the Italian league water polo Series A2. As in previous seasons, is one of the few Italian clubs formed by 15/16 rose from Padua, from the youth sector. Women's team The women's team plays in Serie A1, is one of the clubs on the national scene that boasts a first team formed by many athletes of the youth sector, which has led over the years to many Italian titles. In the 2013-2014 season, the first team to enter the play-off series A1 finishing in fourth place in the regular season. Rita Keszthelyi
Rita Keszthelyi (born 10 December 1991) is a Hungarian water polo player. At the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, she competed for the Hungary women's national water polo team in the women's tournament. She scored two of the goals that helped Hungary win the bronze medal match at the 2020 Olympics. She has played more than 300 water polo matches for Hungary. Ekaterina Valeryevna Prokofyeva (russian: Екатерина Валерьевна Прокофьева; born March 13, 1991) is a Russian water polo player. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics for the Russia women's national water polo team, Russian national team in the Water polo at the 2016 Summer Olympics – Women's tournament, Women's event winning the bronze medal. She had previously competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.
