2018–19 Northern Kentucky Norse Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball team represented Northern Kentucky University (NKU) during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Norse, led by fourth-year head coach John Brannen, played their home games at BB&T Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky as members of the Horizon League. They finished the season 26–9, 13–5 in Horizon League play, to win a share of the regular season championship with Wright State. They defeated Detroit Mercy, Oakland, and Wright State to be champions of the Horizon League tournament. They received the Horizon League's automatic-bid to the NCAA tournament where they lost in the first round to Texas Tech. During the season, forward Drew McDonald became the school's all-time career leader in both scoring and rebounds. John Brannen (basketball)
John Brannen (born January 18, 1974) is an American basketball coach, mostly recently serving as a program analyst and senior special assistant for the University of Dayton Dayton Flyers men's basketball, Flyers. Brannen previously spent two seasons as the men's basketball coach of the University of Cincinnati Cincinnati Bearcats men's basketball, Bearcats and four seasons as the head coach for the Northern Kentucky University Northern Kentucky Norse men's basketball, Norse. Before that he spent nine seasons as an assistant coach to Anthony Grant (basketball), Anthony Grant at both VCU Rams men's basketball, VCU and Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball, Alabama. Pickerington High School Central (Pickerington Central, Central, Pick Central, or PHSC) is a public high school in Pickerington, Ohio, United States. It is one of two high schools in the Pickerington Local School District. Their mascot is the Tiger. The Evansville Purple Aces men's basketball team represents the Purple Aces of the University of Evansville, located in Evansville, Indiana, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. They play their home games at the Ford Center. Evansville's athletics teams were originally known as the Pioneers in the early part of the 1900s. In the 1920s, the name Aces arose after a local sports writer wrote in a game story of the men's basketball team, "They played like Aces." 2017–18 Louisville Cardinals Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team represented the University of Louisville during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team played its home games on Denny Crum Court at the KFC Yum! Center in downtown Louisville, Kentucky as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They were led by interim head coach David Padgett after former head coach Rick Pitino was fired due to an FBI investigation into the school. They finished the season 22–14 overall, and 9–9 in ACC conference play, finishing in a tie for 8th with Florida State, who they defeated in the second round of the ACC tournament before losing to Virginia in the quarterfinals. 2018 National Invitation Tournament
The 2018 National Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I college men's basketball teams that were not selected to participate in the 2018 NCAA tournament. The first three rounds of the annual tournament were played on campus sites (the host team being the higher-seeded team). The semifinals and championship game were held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Experimental rules In February 2018, the NCAA approved a number of experimental rule changes for use in this tournament: * Games were played in 10-minute quarters instead of 20-minute halves.
