2018–19 Liga II
The 2018–19 Liga II (also known as 2018–19 Liga II Casa Pariurilor) was the 79th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 4 August 2018 and ended on 1 June 2019. A total of 20 teams contested the league. It was the third Liga II season with a single series. The season was played in a round-robin tournament. The first two teams were promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed team played a play-off match against the 12th-placed team from Liga I. The last five teams were relegated to Liga III. Liga II
The Liga 2, most often spelled as Liga II, is the second level of the Romanian football league system. The league changed its name from Divizia B just before the start of the 2006–07 Liga II, 2006–07. It is currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by Casa Pariurilor, a betting company with the official name Liga 2 Casa Pariurilor. Format Divisions Since its inception in 1934, Liga II had between 2 and 9 parallel divisions, with clubs divided based on geographic regions. Generally, Seria I included eastern teams while Seria II included western sides, although clubs near the center of the country are allowed to choose in which series they will compete. The first six teams from each series participate in a play-off for potential promotion to Liga I. The teams placed from 7th to 12th will play a relegation play-off, where the last two teams are relegated to Liga III. CS Știința Miroslava
Clubul Sportiv Știința Miroslava, commonly known as Știința Miroslava or simply as Miroslava, is a football club from Romania, based in Miroslava, Iași County and founded in 2009 the club is currently playing in the Liga III. History Știința Miroslava was founded at the initiative of the mayor of Miroslava, Dan Niță in 2009. At the end of 2011–12 season of Liga IV Iași County they finished second again like the past season but this time they promoted for the first time in Liga III. CS Afumați
Club Sportiv Afumați, commonly known as CS Afumați or simply as Afumați, is a Romanian football club based in Afumați, Ilfov County, currently playing in the Liga III. History CS Afumați was founded in 1996 and played in Liga IV until the summer of 2011 when the club obtained a place in Liga III despite the fact that it failed to promote. In Liga III the team from Afumați has become known as a heavy-handed team finishing always in top 5, 3rd place in the first season, 5th place in the second one, then again on the 3rd place and missed promotion in front of Chindia Târgovişte at the end of 2014–15 Liga III season. 2017–18 Liga I
The 2017–18 Liga I (also known as Liga 1 Betano for sponsorship reasons) was the 100th season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season began on 14 July 2017 and ended on 2 June 2018, being the third to take place since the play-off/play-out format has been introduced. Defending champions Viitorul Constanța came fourth. CFR Cluj became the new champions in the last fixture of the play-off, clinching their fourth league title after finishing one point above FCSB. Juventus București and Sepsi OSK entered as the promoted teams from the 2016–17 Liga II, but only the latter managed to avoid relegation. Since Romania dropped from 15th to 17th in the UEFA association coefficient rankings, only the title winner qualified for the UEFA Champions League. The Liga 3, most often spelled as Liga III, is the third level of the Romanian football league system. Its name was changed from Divizia C to Liga III before the start of the 2006–07 season. Liga I
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. The Romanian football league system, also known as the football pyramid, refers to the system in Romanian club football that consists of several football leagues bound together hierarchically by promotion and relegation. The first three leagues are organized at a national level and consist of fully professional teams.
