The 2018–19 Hong Kong Second Division League was the 5th season of the Hong Kong Second Division since it became the third-tier football league in Hong Kong in 2014–15. The season began on 9 September 2018 and ended on 26 May 2019. Hong Kong Second Division League
Hong Kong Second Division League () is the third level of football league in Hong Kong founded in 1909. The top two teams are promoted to the Hong Kong First Division. Competition format * Each team plays the other teams twice, one home and one away game. The ticket profits go to the home team. If there are two matches in the same stadium on the day, the profits are shared between the two home teams. * Since most of the teams do not have a home ground, the matches will be playing on different grounds. It happens that one team plays their home games in different stadiums in the same season. * The bottom two teams are relegated to the Hong Kong Third Division. The Central and Western District Recreation and Sports Association (), known simply as Central & Western District, is a Hong Kong football club based in Central and Western District, one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. The team currently competes in the Hong Kong First Division. The club's home matches are played at Happy Valley Recreation Ground and various other grounds as there are no suitable grounds in Central and Western District. History In the 2002–03 season, the Hong Kong Football Association reformed the Hong Kong Second Division and the Hong Kong Third Division. The association suggested that each of the different district councils form their own football team based in its district. Yau Tsim Mong Football Team () is a football club based in Yau Tsim Mong District of Hong Kong which currently competes in the Hong Kong Second Division. The club was formed in 2003. The team plays its home matches at Kowloon Tsai Park. History The club was promoted to the Hong Kong Second Division, then the second tier of Hong Kong football, in the 2006–07 season after coming second in the Hong Kong Third Division "District" League and winning the playoffs. However, they were instantly relegated back to the third tier after finishing the season with only a single win and 7 points out of 20 games, and conceding 51 goals, an average of 2.5 per game. Wanchai Sports Federation () is a football club which currently plays in the Hong Kong Second Division. The club is operated by the Wan Chai District Council. The club plays its home matches at Happy Valley Recreation Ground. History In 2002, the Hong Kong Football Association introduced the Hong Kong Third District Division League, which was formed by teams operating by each District Council of Hong Kong. Wanchai was one of 11 clubs to join the league in the first season. The club did not perform well since they were formed as they were usually placing at the bottom half of league table. Fukien Athletic Club () are a Hong Kong professional multi-sports club, best known for its football team. Its football club currently plays in the Hong Kong Third Division. History Fukien Athletic Club was founded in 1925. At the early period, the club was funded by Chinese businessman and philanthropist Tan Kah Kee, who heralded from Fujian, as well as by group of Fujian immigrants. The club entered the Hong Kong football league system in 1930. In 1990, Fukien won their first trophy, capturing the Junior Shield. Sai Kung Friends Football Club () is a Hong Kong football club which currently competes in the Hong Kong Third Division. History In 1997–98, they finished third in Hong Kong Second Division, but due to first and second HKFC and Jung Fuk gave up on promotion to Hong Kong First Division. Sai Kung Friends were promoted to Hong Kong First Division for the first time. Although having Brazilian striker, Tomy Adriano Giacomeli on the team, their overall strength was rather weak. Of the 8 teams in the 1998-99 First Division, they ranked 7th. However, HKFC and Fire Services both declined promotion, allowing Friends to remain in the First Division.
