2018–19 George Washington Colonials Men's Basketball Team
The 2018–19 George Washington Colonials men's basketball team represented George Washington University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonials were led by third-year head coach Maurice Joseph and played their home games at the Charles E. Smith Center in Washington, D.C. as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season9–24, 4–14 in A-10 play to finish in a tie for 12th place. As the No. 12 seed, they defeated Massachusetts in the first round of the A-10 tournament before losing to George Mason in the second round. George Washington parted ways with Maurice Joseph on March 15, 2019 after three seasons and an overall record of 44–57. On March 21, the school hired Siena head coach Jamion Christian as the new head coach. Maurice Joseph
Maurice Joseph (born August 26, 1985) is a former Canadian basketball player and coach, currently an assistant coach at Butler. He is the former head coach of the George Washington University Colonials men's basketball team. Playing career After a standout prep career at Champlain-St. Lambert in his native Montreal, Joseph committed to play basketball at Michigan State under Tom Izzo. Joseph appeared in 52 games and was a part of two NCAA Tournament squads for the Spartans over a two-year period, averaging 3.8 points per game before transferring to Vermont, closer to his Montreal home. In two seasons with the Catamounts, Joseph was the team's second-leading scorer with 13.9 points per game, helping Vermont to its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010. 2017–18 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Basketball Season
The 2017–18 Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball season was the 42nd season of Atlantic 10 Conference basketball. The season began with practices in October 2017, followed by the start of the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season in November. League play began in late December and ended on March 3, 2018. With a win over La Salle on February 20, 2018, Rhode Island clinched at least a share of the A-10 regular season championship, their first title since 1981. Three days later, the Rams clinched an outright A-10 title for the first time in school history. The 2018 A-10 tournament was held at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. from March 7 through 11, 2018. Georgetown Hoyas Men's Basketball
The Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball program represents Georgetown University in NCAA Division I men's intercollegiate basketball and the Big East Conference. Georgetown has competed in men's college basketball since 1907. The current head coach of the program is Patrick Ewing. Georgetown won the National Championship in 1984 and has made the Final Four on five occasions. Yuta Watanabe
is a Japanese professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball in the United States for the George Washington Colonials, becoming the first Japanese-born student athlete to secure an NCAA Division I basketball scholarship.
