2018–19 FC Augsburg Season
The 2018–19 FC Augsburg season was the 112th season in the football club's history and 8th consecutive and overall season in the top flight of German football, the Bundesliga, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga in 2011. In addition to the domestic league, FC Augsburg also participated in this season's edition of the domestic cup, the DFB-Pokal. This was the 10th season for Augsburg in the WWK Arena, located in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. The season covered a period from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019. Fußball-Club Augsburg 1907 e. V., commonly known as FC Augsburg () or Augsburg, is a German football club based in Augsburg, Bavaria. FC Augsburg play in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. The team was founded as Fußball-Klub Alemania Augsburg in 1907 and played as BC Augsburg from 1921 to 1969. Lewis Wing (born 23 June 1995) is an English professional footballer who plays for Reading, as an attacking midfielder. Club career Early career Born in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, Wing attended Woodham Comprehensive School followed by Durham Sixth Form Centre where he studied Sports Science. Daniel Baier (; born 18 May 1984) is a former German professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Born in Cologne, Baier first played for the youth team of TSV 1860 Munich. Rosenaustadion is a multi-purpose stadium in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. Built in 1951, it's a heritage listed monument and was the largest stadium in Augsburg for 58 years until 2009 when the Augsburg Arena was opened. With a spectator capacity of 32,354, it is primarily used for football matches and track & field athletics events. It is the current home ground for FC Augsburg Women and FC Augsburg II. Würzburger Kickers is a German association football club playing in Würzburg, Bavaria. In pre-World War II football, the club competed briefly at the highest level in the Bezirksliga Bayern, and during the war, in the Gauliga Bayern. Post-war, it made a single appearance in professional football in the southern division of the 2. Bundesliga in 1977–78.
