2018–19 DFB-Pokal Frauen
The 2018–19 DFB-Pokal was the 39th season of the annual German football cup competition. Fifty teams participated in the competition, including all teams from the previous year's Frauen-Bundesliga and the 2. Frauen-Bundesliga, excluding second teams. The competition began on 11 August 2018 with the first of six rounds and ended on 1 May 2019 with the final at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, a nominally neutral venue, which has hosted the final since 2010. The DFB-Pokal is considered the second-most important club title in German women's football after the Bundesliga championship. The DFB-Pokal is run by the German Football Association (DFB). The defending champions were Frauen-Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, after they defeated Bayern Munich 3–2 on penalties in the previous final. SV Werder Bremen (women)
SV Werder Bremen Frauen is SV Werder Bremen's women's football section, currently competing in the Frauen-Bundesliga of Germany. In 2014–15 they were promoted to the Bundesliga. History Already in the early 1970s a women's team played for the German Championship, but was dissolved some years later. Recreated in 2007, Werder Bremen reached the second national category two years later, after topping the Regionalliga's North group. In the 2. Bundesliga's North group, Werder Bremen was 7th in 2010 and 5th in 2011 and 2012. On 27 September 2009, during the in the 2009–10 season, Doreen Nabwire scored the club's first goals in the 2. Bayer 04 Leverkusen, also known as Bayer Leverkusen, Leverkusen, or simply known as Bayer, is a German women's football club based in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia. The club plays in the Frauen-Bundesliga, the top tier of German women's football. History The origin of Bayer Leverkusen women's football section lies at the SSG 09 Bergisch Gladbach, which in the 1970s and 1980s was the dominating club in German women's football. HSV Borussia Friedenstal, or Herforder SV, is a German sports club based in Friedenstal, a suburb of Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia. SV Henstedt-Ulzburg is a Football in Germany, German association football club based in Henstedt-Ulzburg, Schleswig-Holstein. FSV Gütersloh 2009 (Frauensportverein, e.g. Women's Sports Club) is a German women's football club from Gütersloh. It currently competes in the 2. Bundesliga. BV Cloppenburg Frauen is a German Women's soccer, women's football team. It represents BV Cloppenburg. The team has its origins in Fußball-Regionalliga (women), Regionalliga side SV Höltinghausen, which was absorbed by Cloppenburg in 2008. Cloppenburg earned promotion to the Second Bundesliga in its second try.
