2018–19 Azerbaijan First Division
The 2018–19 Azerbaijan First Division is the second-level of football in Azerbaijan. Sabail-2 were the defending champions. Teams Sabah FK, Sabah was promoted from the 2017–18 Azerbaijan First Division, 2017–18 season to Azerbaijan Premier League, while Kapaz PFK, Kapaz relegated to the First Division. On 9 August 2018, it was announced that FK Keşla-2, Keşla-2, PFK Neftçi-2, Neftçi-2, FK Qarabağ-2, Qarabağ-2, FK Sabah-2, Sabah-2, FK Sabail-2, Sabail-2, FK Sumgayit-2, Sumgayit-2 and FK Zira-2, Zira-2 will participate in the First Division. Bine FK, Bine, Khazar Baku FK, Khazar and Mil-Muğan FK, Mil-Muğan didn't participate in this season. Azerbaijan First Division
The Azerbaijan First League () is the second highest professional division in Azerbaijani professional football. The league is run by AFFA. The winner promotes to Premier Division. History Due to the dissolution of the Soviet Union, all Azerbaijan clubs of the former Soviet Premier Division and Soviet First Division conformed a single Azerbaijan Premier League, which meant that the new second tier of Azerbaijan football would remain regionalized. For the first two seasons three regional groups conformed the second tier, until in 1994 the single table in use today began to be used. Ağsu FK
Ağsu FK (, ) is an Azerbaijani football club based in Agsu. The club is currently participating in the Azerbaijan First Division. History The club was established in 2012 and immediately joined Azerbaijan First Division. On 18 May 2013, the club sealed promotion to Azerbaijan Premier League after winning first division. However, due to the decision of the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan about licensing, the club did not get promoted to the Premier league. Stadium Agsu's home ground is Agsu City Stadium, which has a capacity of 3,000. Aghdam
Aghdam () is a town and the nominal capital of the Aghdam District of Azerbaijan. Founded in the 18th century, it was granted city status in 1828 and grew considerably during the Soviet period. Aghdam lies from Stepanakert at the eastern foot of the Karabakh Range, on the outskirts of the Karabakh plain. Before the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, butter, wine and brandy, machine, and silk factories, and an airport and two railway stations functioned there. By 1989, Aghdam had 28,031 inhabitants. As Azerbaijani forces withdrew from Karabakh following political turmoil in the country during the war, Armenian forces captured Aghdam in July 1993. The heavy fighting forced the city's population to flee eastwards. Upon the seizure, Armenian forces sacked the town. MOIK Baku is an Azerbaijani football club, based in Baku. MOIK was originally built around the concept of military sports club such as CSKA Moscow, CSKA Sofia. History The club was established under the name OIK (; ) in 1961 as sport society of Azerbaijani Armed Forces and was funded by USSR Ministry of Defense until 1990 and Azerbaijan Ministry of Defense since 1993. ASK Arena
ASK Arena (), formerly Inter Arena and Shafa Stadium is an all-seater football stadium located in Baku . The stadium was built on the site of Termist stadium in 2001 and has a capacity of 8,125 spectators. The stadium surrounded by practice fields, administration buildings and four-star hotel. Background ASK Arena was built by AFFA in 2001. The first match played was a 2001–02 UEFA Cup first qualifying round between Shafa Baku and Olimija Ljubljana where the match ended 0–4. Keshla
Keşlə (; Кешлә, کشله; also Keshly, Keshlya, Kəşlə, Keşlä, Kešlæ, Kishly, Kishlya, Kishty, Kişli and Kitly) is a settlement and municipality in Baku, Azerbaijan. It has a population of 25,626. Shamakhi FK (, ) is an Azerbaijani professional football club based in Shamakhi, that currently competes in the Azerbaijan Premier League. The club has won the Premier League title twice. History Early years (1997–2004) The club has been functioning since 1997, initially as an amateur side that shared its name with Khazar University, the first private university in Azerbaijan, which founded the club.
