The 2018 World Para Swimming European Championships, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2018 World Para Swimming Allianz European Championships took place in Dublin, Ireland from 13 to 19 August 2018. It was the 5th edition of the Championships, the first under the new World Para Swimming branding, and the first time Ireland had hosted. S11 (classification)
S11, SB11, SM11 are disability swimming classifications for blind swimmers. Sport This classification is for swimming. In the classification title, S represents Freestyle, Backstroke and Butterfly strokes. SB means breaststroke. SM means individual medley. Jane Buckley, writing for the Sporting Wheelies, describes the swimmers in this classification as having: "unable to see at all and are considered totally blind (see IBSA B1 – appendix). Swimmers must wear blackened goggles if they swim in this class. They will also require someone to tap them when they are approaching a wall." Denys Vitaliovych Dubrov ( uk, Денис Віталійович Дубров, 10 January 1989 – 9 May 2022) was a Ukrainian swimmer. A member of the able-bodied Ukrainian National team, he competed in Paralympic S10 and SM10 (individual medley) events. At the 2016 Rio Paralympics he won three gold, three silver and two bronze medals, setting world records in the Men's SM10 200 m individual medley and S10 100m butterfly events. , he still held the able-bodied Ukrainian National Record in the 200 m individual medley, a time of 2:00.53 which he set in 2009. Maksym Serhiyovich Krypak ( uk, Максим Сергійович Крипак, born 23 May 1995 in Kharkiv) is a Paralympic swimmer from Ukraine who competes in S10 and SM10 (individual medley) events. He won five gold and three silver medals at the 2016 Rio Paralympics, setting new world records in the 100 m backstroke and 400 m freestyle. Krypak won seven medals at the 2020 Paralympic Games and became the most titled athlete of these games. Lewis White (born 17 April 2000) is a retired Paralympic British swimmer who competed as a S9 classification swimmer, mainly in freestyle events. He holds multiple British records, winning 6 senior international medals in his career. Whilst training at City of Derby, under the tutelage of Mel Marshall, he won 3 international medals. Firstly, 2 Silvers at the Funchal European Championships followed by a Bronze at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. This was followed 2 years later, now coached by Amanda Bell, with another 2 Silver Medals at the Dublin European Championships, rounding out the season with another Silver medal, this time at the 2018 Australia Commonwealth Games. Simone Barlaam
Simone Barlaam (born 12 July 2000) is an Italian Paralympic swimmer who competes in international level events. He is a thirteen time World champion and eight time European champion. He competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, winning a gold medal. Personal life Barlaam was born with a coxa vara and congenital hypoplasia in his right femur which means that his right leg doesn't develop resulting in his right leg shorter than his left leg. This was caused by doctors who performed a podalic version procedure while he was in utero but his leg broke which doctors knew nothing about. During his childhood, he went through thirteen surgeries to correct his right leg.
