2018 World Indoor Bowls Championship
The 2018 Just World Indoor Bowls Championship took place at Potters Leisure Resort, Hopton-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, England, on 12–28 January 2018. Mark Dawes and Robert Paxton reached the Open singles final with Dawes taking the title on a tie break. Dawes had been the player of the tournament. Katherine Rednall won her third singles title defeating Rebecca Field in the final. The seventh seeds Mark Dawes and Jamie Chestney won the Open pairs final beating Nick Brett and Greg Harlow. Chestney missed the opportunity to win the first set with his last bowl but gained a three count to draw the set 6–6; the second set was won 9–5, helped by a decisive 5–0 count on end five. Chestney also won the Mixed Pairs title with Lesley Doig. Northern Ireland's Chloe Watson received the Open Under-25 Singles title after her opponent, defending champion Ellen Ryan, was unable to complete the final as she felt unwell. Bowls
Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). Chloe Watson
Chloe Watson (born 1997) is an Irish international lawn and Indoor bowler. Bowls career Beginning her career within the sport of Bowls in 2008, Watson gained her first International cap at the age of 10 representing Ireland in Cardiff, Wales. Since then, Chloe has played 195+ games representing Ireland and has been named The Belfast Telegraphs Sports Person of the Year. Chris Gale (born 1983) is an English male lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career He is an England international and was the National junior singles runner-up in 2002 and pairs runner-up in 2000 during the Men's National Championships. Jason John Greenslade (born 6 March 1970) is a Welsh international indoor and lawn bowler. After moving to Guernsey in 2022 he later represented them in competition. Bowls career Outdoors Greenslade took up bowling at the age of eight after his parents (both Welsh internationals) introduced him to the sport. In 2001, he won the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic singles title. Paul James Foster (born 13 March 1973) is a multiple world bowls champion who lives in Troon, Scotland. He plays at Troon Portland (Outdoor) & Ambassador Prestwick (Indoor) bowling clubs.
