2018 Virginia Cavaliers Football Team
The 2018 Virginia Cavaliers football team represents the University of Virginia during the 2018 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Cavaliers are led by third-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall and play their home games at Scott Stadium. They compete as a member of the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Previous season Virginia ended the 2017 season with a 6–7 overall record, 3–5 in the ACC, to finish in a tie for fourth place in the ACC Coastal Division. Bronco Mendenhall
Marc Bronco Clay Mendenhall (born February 21, 1966) is an American football coach who most recently coached at The University of Virginia. He stepped down after the 2021 season. Mendenhall joined Virginia in 2015 after spending the previous eleven seasons as the head football coach at Brigham Young University, and resigned his position following the 2021 season. He has a career record of 135 victories and 81 losses, and has recorded fourteen postseason bowl game appearances with seven victories. Mendenhall is known for his unorthodox methods and "Earned Not Given" motto, even having players earn their jersey numbers each season. In 2019, Mendenhall became the first Virginia coach to bring both the Commonwealth Cup and Jefferson-Eppes Trophy to Charlottesville at the same time, and his Cavaliers also won the South's Oldest Rivalry in the same season. Olamide Zaccheaus
Olamide Zaccheaus ( ; born July 23, 1997) is an American football wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Virginia and has played in the NFL for the Atlanta Falcons. Zaccheaus had lived with his family in Plainfield, New Jersey, before moving at age seven to Magnolia, New Jersey. College career Zaccheaus was a member of the Virginia Cavaliers for four seasons. He was named second team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) after catching 85 passes for 895 yards and five touchdowns. 2018 NCAA Division I FBS Football Rankings
Two human polls and a committee's selections comprised the 2018 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football rankings, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Unlike most sports, college football's governing body, the NCAA, does not bestow a national championship, instead that title is bestowed by one or more different polling agencies. There are two main weekly polls that begin in the preseason—the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll. One additional poll, the College Football Playoff (CFP) ranking, is released midway through the season after the ninth week. Bryce Perkins (born December 20, 1996) is an American football quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Arizona State, Arizona Western, and Virginia before signing with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2020.
